What should be done with Tomorrowland?

Is there anything that could make it better in general?
Updates on existing attractions?
How about some attractions?
What do you think?

I'd like to see an update for the ever aging Tomorrowland Indy Speedway? I personally love the Speedway, but I think it does need a face-lift. I'd like to see something like Disneyland's Autopia redo from a few years ago.

Glad you didn't want to rip the speedway out:eek: like many want to do:(

I was one of those until I just sat and watched for almost an hour. The smiles:D on the little ones faces as the "drove" the cars convinced me that I was wrong:eek: The speedway needs to stay for those kids.:)

Revamp? I can buy that:wave:

I think that they should replace the Speedway with an Autopia where the cars are battery powered. Move the Carousel of Progress to EPCOT and replave it with somthing else. And replace Time Keeper with somthing else.

I agree with ya' Becky! I loved the Speedway when I was little cause I got to "drive" a car but it DEFINANTLY needs to be revamped and redone to look futuristic or at least to smell and sound better.

God Bless you, Becky, for actually taking the time to observe how much enjoyment other people got out of an attraction instead of basing your opinion on how much enjoyment YOU got out of it. and i mean that whole-heartedly! i find that many times, people will say that Disney needs to get rid of an attraction because they no longer get enjoyment out of it. which is fine, that's their opinion. and i'll admit, i'm guilty of doing the same thing at times. but if we'd just step back and take a look to see how much enjoyment children, and even adults, get out of some attractions, i think our opinions would be a lot more accurate. and i definately think the big wigs of the company should do this every once in a while. maybe that would tell them just how 'out-dated' an attraction really is.

I so agree with you! Also on my opinion of Tomorrowland, I think it's perfect the way it is, it looks so futuristic and probably won't need to be "futurated" for a long long time. But I do think that the Tomorrowland Speedway could look a lot more futuristic.:)

TRASH THE TOMORROWLAND SPEEDWAY AND DO IT NOW!!!! That said, I'd also either do a major overhaul of the Alien Encounter attraction or rip it out altogether (it's incredibly lame). I'd also keep CoP open year-round and get rid of Time Keeper for another Dreamflight-type attraction.

Ill be selfish bastage also, and say ditch the speedway. There are enough go karts off grounds. Put in something big right there. Another E ticket. That and bring back the old WEDway voice.

I say keep TimeKeeper. I know I'm going to get bashed over the head for saying that. I went on it for the first time the day before New Years Eve this past year. I absolutely loved it, and found no reason for it to be closed so much. But, to each his own.

Why do we have to tear stuff down? Can't we keep it and expand?

The Indy Racers have always kind of stuck out to me, not really "future themed". I think they should be updated to at least be closer to the theme of the area.

About the CoP and the Timekeeper. I enjoyed both of these attractions, and I understand the sentimental value of CoP. For that reason alone, it should be kept. BUT, if Disney is just going to open these attractions seasonally, we'd be much better served by new attractions in these locations. I think the whole "seasonal" attractions think is kinda ridiculous. I agree with an idea from a previous poster, move CoP to Epcot, and put in something new. As for Timekeeper, make a decison already!!! Either it exists all year rond, or give us something new.

Alien Encounter seems to need "something" new, whether it's a small revision, or a complete face-lift. It's an attraction that I enjoyed when I did it, just not something I'd do again.

Buzz is fun, I's love to be able to hold the blaster in my hand, not deal with tit mounted to the vehicle.

I haven't done Space Mountain yet, I'm a wimp....:hammer: .

I think the TTA is fine the way it is, I still like getting on it and taking a few laps to relax and cool down.

The overall look of Tomorrowland is still "right on" so to speak, and I wouldn't change a thing.

THIS JUST IN:

Disney execs announce changes to Tomorrowland....

In light of current economic situations, Disney has just decided to intitate the only changes to Tomorrowland the Eisner would approve......from now on they're simply going to call it YESTERDAY LAND.
Signs are being replaced today throughout the parks.

Come and enjoy the "NEW" Tomorrowland.....YESTERDAY!

:p :hammer:  :p :hammer:

The Speedway has no business being in Tomorrowland to begin with, and never did, so I say rip it out of there and create a new attraction in that location. The Speedway isn't even Disney-themed, it's your average, run-of-the-mill kiddie car ride that you'd find at any local theme park. If they feel the need to keep it, pick it up and dump it behind Mickey's Toontown Fair because it doesn't even really have a place in any of the MK's lands.

In another thread discussing Alien Encounter someone posted a link to www.jimhillmedia.com where the history of AE is discussed. But What i found more interesting was a discussion of the initial plans for a tommorrowland revamp at DL referred to as Tommorrowland 2055, which never came to fruition. Sounds very interesting.
As for the current state of TL, it is much better now than ever and apparently superior to the current TL at DL. I for one love AE, but i find that it all depends if you are lucky enough to get a functioning seat. It seems some seats work better than others. I for one don't mind including Stitch in this ride. Obviously he won't be the alien in the middle as ppl fear. Wouldn't make sense. There really isn't anything in TL i don't like. Timekeeper is fun. SM and TTA are awesome. I don't ride the Speedway unless i'm there with my niece and nephew. But kids love it and it should stay. As for the controversial topic of CoP...i always loved this ride as a kid and i loved the song, now is the time, even more than the ride. However, the changes made to the ride around the 25th anniv. ruined it. Yeah i know now it is the original(except for the ending) . Well the prior version was better. I found it so boring now. I think the ride needs a new script and i agree should be moved to Epcot. The idea imagineers had for the cop at dl sounds very cool and would fit in perfectly.

One last thought ...as much as i enjoy TL, it seems to me, this part of the park could be so much more. It really could be the centerpiece of this park. It would be great to see Aliens walking about, visit distant planets, etc, all the things we associate with the future. That being said TL is heading there somewhat. But I think the buildings and the atmosphere need a bit of work. Luckily Buzz and AE have contributed alot to making TL better today than ever.

Alien Encounter needs help. It's not frightening, humerous, or enjoyable as it is right now and is a bit too sadistic for a Disney park. I would like to see either Stitch Encounter or at least something done to help this attraction. Also, a new show at the Galaxy Palace might be nice. Or at least something there to make use of the empty space that is there now- either an attraction, shop, character greeting area- anything but an empty theater.

I think that Disney should revamp it. I have been going there since 77 and I dont really remember it much back then but it seems like it has never really changed. I would think WDW would try and get NASCAR on board. As popular as Nascar has been in the late 90's and now I think it could be a great ride. I havent done AE, my kids were too young last year, but I would love to see Stitch. I also feel that some of the other rides are just too old. Seems like with todays technology that something could be done.

Leave AE alone, open up Timekeeper and Carousel permanently, get rid of the two usually empty stages. Where the stage to the right of CoP attach a building to Buzz and put a Toy Story themed gift store, there seems to be a lot of merchandise carts in the courtyard that could be moved to that location. Redo Space Mountain to something similar to Disneyland Paris. As for the Speedway redo it like Disneyland it's a more interesting ride. I haven't thought much about it!
