What parts of WDW give you the feeling of nostalgia?

Does anyone else ever experience nostalgia in certain places in the parks or hotels? I have personally never been to the Polynesian islands, but growing up, when the Polynesian was one of the only hotels at WDW, we stayed there the most. Grant it, it was only like a 2 day trip each time because the place is so darn expensive. But because of this, every time I am in the IASW ride during the Hawaii scene or in Adventureland in the Tiki Room, I get that instant sense of nostalgia (and of course want to stay in the Polynesian resort for a week if my pocketbook allowed).

I think alot of users will fell like this when they see the current state of the Imagination Pavilion or walking up to the now gone Imageworks (For DVC members only though)

Every single hallway of Yacht & Beach Club. Spent so much time wandering around there with family going to Stormalong Bay, running to our rooms, and loving every single moment there.

In the parks...the loading area of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority always gets me with memories and anticipation!

The Great Ceremonial House always gives me the chills. The Poly saws the first report DH and I stayed at on our first trip together. I always wanted to go there or stay there growing up and never did. Absolutely love that place, especially the lobby per my avatar. It makes me feel at home.

Contemporary. Poly. Space Mountain's exit. Carousel of Progress. Tom Sawyer Island. It's a Small World.
I don't think that I've ever been in one of these without an old memory flashing in front of me.

If the question is "What do we miss most that has changed at WDW?" Poly's old lobby would be in my top 5.

Agreed:grumpy: I have accepted the new one and enjoy it, but it's not the same.
I didn't really like the change at first because I really missed the centerpiece, but I actually started to like how much the new lobby opened up the entire Ceremonial House. (Still doesn't feel quite the same though)

The openness definitely is a plus which is why I've accepted it. It's too bad there couldn't have been a way to have both.

Carousel of Progress and old videos of Horizons. Reminds me of how easily we were entertained. And like a set in a stage play, our imagination filled in the gaps. And Peter Pan of course. Because I still would love to be Wendy and fly out my bedroom window!

The queue for Space Mountain. Always triggers memories of standing in line with my Dad and sister as a kid. Happily waited an hour or more to ride and never complained. Riding Peter Pan. Walking out of the Train Station onto Main Street. Crossing the bridge into Adventureland. Walking through the Contemporary as a Monorail passes overhead. As a child I remember we would park at the Contemporary and walk over or take the Monorail over to MK, so I always have fond memories of that resort.

4th floor concourse at Disney's Contemporary resort does it for me. Although it has changed quite a bit over the years (I miss that giant snow globe), I can't help but feel nostalgic when that Monorail goes through the middle of the resort..

We started going in Oct of 72 for disney's 1st and my sister's 2nd birthday. For me it's smelling the sweet smells from the confectionery while seeing the castle. The other thing is riding Pirates. When we were growing up we didn't have the money for extra ticket booklets so there was always some level of picking and choosing what we rode unlike today where you ride everything. My dad always saved riding Pirates for last. I always think of those trips when I ride it.
