What Other Dismissed Rumors Are Floating Out There?

I am curious, since Lee so very humbly admitted that he was told about AVATAR a while ago but dismissed this ... could there be more like this on the horizon?

Are there any other rumors that the experts or pseduo-experts have heard that they dismissed totally in recent months that maybe need to be floated out there for another 100 or so pages of fun?

As a follow up ... Staggs mentioned there was plenty to come after D23, is AVATAR it? I can't imagine it is since I can't imagine they that build nothing major between now and when this opens ...

Why not? It fits with the recent time lines.

Happiest Celebration Expansion (E:E, LMA, Soarin') - 2005/2005

Fantasyland Expansion - 2012/2013

Pandora - 2016?/2017?/2018?

There really wasn't anything major built in the time between Happiest Celebration and FLE, unless you consider TSMM major, which I do not.

Well I consider TSMM major in the sense that its not a new parade or meet and greet.

So I should qualify that major, to me, doesn't mean E ticket but does mean an attraction that draws buzz, people, and attention ... TSMM is what, the most popular attraction there?

I don't have numbers, but I'd still guess ToT and RNRC are more popular than TSMM due to capacity and throughput. TSMM has the longest lines, no doubt. But lines don't always mean highest number of riders.

But I really have nothing to back that up without the actual stats in front of me.

Well I was told....

Duffy replaces Figment in the Imagination Pavilion.

Duffy replaces the trolls on Maelstrom.

Stitch's Great Escape AAs to transfer to B-mode.

All Halloween and Christmas decorations to be displayed by a projection screen.

Oh...and a new land in Hollywood Studios with no attractions or restaurants....just a meet and greet location for Duffy, Hannah Montana and Debbie Gibson.

A few weeks ago I heard that there are surprises coming to EC, DHS and AK. I ignored the comment because you hear these types of things all the time and they rarely become true. But now that the AK announcement has been made, I wonder if there was some truth to what I was told.

I don't know the details, but a large financial figure was mentioned as well. So far the AK figure is in line with what I had been told.

This is literally all I know, I'm not hiding anything else. I took it with a huge grain of salt and so should you. The person who gave me this information could have just gotten lucky.

Of course something is coming to DTD - which Staggs specifically pointed out after D23. And those insiders who are privy seem to think it is pretty big. I also would expect something in HS before Avatar opens - but I am sure even Disney doesn't exactly know what yet. But something is needed - and I am sure they are aware of that.

I think it can be safely said that Disney knows that "lose lips sink ships" so they leak what they want to leak. The AK announcement caught everyone off guard, proving that not many are in the circle of trust.

Something is needed at HS badly. Im not big on the clones, but I think carsland would be perfect. HS doesn't need one E-ticket it needs atleast 2 attractions added to the mix. I think carsland would be perfect for that park. It would finally complete the park.

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
Being VERY Optimistic here but....

Maybe with the 40th being only slightly recognised, perhaps the next 9 and a Half to 10 years will see some drastic changes and massive construction???

With AK being expanded and DHS just a green light away from an expansion for years and the Fantasyland Expansion maybe some love is on the way for EPCOT too, with the view being to have WDW a must Visit spot for the 50th????

Well ... although it did catch people off gaurd, we know of one person at least (Lee) who knew about it but dismissed it and according to the WDWToday podcast for today Jim Hill sort of knew about it before hand too ...

So I am curious if there is anything else out there like that? Perhaps something that someone mentioned to one of the experts or near experts and they just thought "no way" ...

Although I think Avatar is one of the worst movies in years (doesn't mean it won't make a good attraction) the one thing that has me most excited about the announcement is the "caught off gaurd" - "dismissed blue sky concept" whole piece of it.

If anything this is the worst thing that could have happened to us rumor mongers because now we can't dismiss anything ...

Imagine if someone had posted the Avatar to Animal Kingdom rumor here, he would have been chased off the site with pitchforks and torches ...

So ... I'm just curious if there is anything else out there that we might have missed or dismissed ...

I guess love or hate the Avatar idea there is some renewed excitment here now that anything could happen.

Being a dad, I would love the Monster's Inc coaster but would also love to have between 2 and 4 C/D ticket attractions that I can ride with my kids. That park is seriously lacking in rides for the entire family which, I think, is the reason the Toy Story Mania has such long lines.

Good point. Do you think we could all be off base about the Marvel thing then? I mean, if they are talking about adding something to DHS (not that thats the best fit for that, but where else would it go?) ... maybe its not so far fetched?

I think that HS has to expand Pixar if they do anything soon. It has look from day one that Pixar was to be a "land" and that the area seems unfinished with just one ride.

Well, we know that Universal has the rights East of the Mississippi to most of the Marvel characters anyone would care about ... so I would doubt anything happens with that ... unless maybe Thor? I think that is the only one of consequence that isn't licensed for an attraction ... but I could be mistaken.

I think beyond a rather large Downtown Disney announcement I wouldn't expect any other new major theme park announcements for quite a while...At least for the US domestic parks. Maybe a new attraction or refurbishment, but nothing along the lines of significant expansions.
