What movies to watch?

My son has already seen quite a few Disney movies, but I want him to know EVERY character we meet when we go to WDW this fall. What movies should we all watch before we leave? Is there a list of every character somewhere?

Thanks so much!!

ETA: I should also mention that we plan on doing the Not So Scary Halloween party as well since I know other characters show up for that.

Do you have Netflix? Last year we booked our October trip in January and I think every third movie on my que was a Disney movie. I think we saw just about every and any Disney cartoon movie we were able to find (that we don't already own) as well as a couple of documentaries. It helped us to pass the time between booking and going and at a nice pace. It wasn't so much Disney that we were burnt out of Disney but it wasn't so little that we got antsy. Depending on the ages of your kids, I wouldn't skip the documentaries.

Attached is also the Disney character list from Wikipedia. It looks pretty complete:

I'd say see if you can find a copy of Song of the South somewhere, so the kids understand the plot of Splash Mountain.

After that, you could try making a list of the rides at WDW that are associated with or based off of or that inspired a movie, and check off what you've seen and you haven't. And chances are your kids will enjoy the Haunted Mansion & Country Bear Jamboree more if they DON'T see the movies. :D

Thanks so much! I'll have to look in to getting Netflix again!

It worked out to being another Disney movie every week and a half or so. It ended up being about 35 different Disney movies over a 40 week period.

As far as which movies to see, it's hard to say without knowing what you have or haven't seen. A couple of the documentaries that were really enjoyable were "Frank and Ollie" (about 2 of the origional Disney animators, a must!), "The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story" (about the brothers who composed a ton of stuff), "Waking Sleeping Beauty" (about some of the movies and animators over the years), "Walt: The Man Behind The Myth" (about Walts life, not on Netflix right now but may be found on cable TV from time to time) and "Modern Marvels: Disney World" (from the History Channel, just a behind the scenes look at WDW). You can also find some specials over the years that have been on the Travel Channel or Food Network on sites like youtube.

Quite a long list but I will throw out the ones that my kids both enjoyed and then loved interacting with the characters while in Disney.

Lilo and Stitch, Monsters Inc, the Toy Story's, all the princess movies both old and new, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, incredibles...I think that is all I have for now.
Also check into what the latest feature in theaters is, there is always a meet and greet in HS that they switch out and keep current. We saw the characters from Bolt one trip.

As far as the Halloween characters, it's mostly the villlains that make special appearances.
Getting your son familiar with the characters now is a great idea to prepare him for meeting them live on tour trip.
