Some random memories from my first WDW trip in 1979:

Flying in on Eastern Airlines (first time on a plane) with a full meal served on a 2 hour flight.

Waiting in line 3 hours in 90 degree heat for Space Mountain, and then getting back in line.

The South Seas Room at the Polynesian. They had a chicken and rice dish that I liked.

Standing at the ticket booth to buy "E" tickets.

DH saying girls and I are going to Disney come if you want..see i said we could not afford it. (11th trip in 14 years since the first trip is now only 55 days away!!!!)

Getting to Disney and our credit card was rejected as the payment had not posted...company posted to wrong account. (what a joy that was)

Crying at breakfast on the last morning because i did not want to leave.

I remember the LONG car ride from PA. I was four and the youngest of three girls and was always pushed to the floor and told to color to entertain myself.

Stopping at South of the Border and getting my picture taken with the animal statues.

Getting my picture taken with Winnie the Pooh (my goal for the week)

Crying because I was scared to go on Carousel of Progress but I wasn't the least bit afraid to ride Haunted Mansion or to go on Space Mountain with my sister.

Having Peter Pan break down every time we rode it but liked how some of my clothes glowed really weird in the dark on it.

Waiting to get replacement "E" tickets when Peter Pan broke down and then using them to ride Haunted Mansion instead. (This is how I remember it anyway).

The fireworks at night. We were there in 1976, the bicentennial, and I got a really cool T-Shirt that I still have in a box somewhere.

Sorry if some of it doesn't add up right but I was four and this is how I remember it.

I'm not sure which was my first or which was my second, but I was about 6 or 7 and my mother and I were in Epcot eating ice cream cones. She was so worried that I was going to get all messy, dripping the ice cream all over the place cause it was so hot and I eating soo slow. She kept re-wrapping it for me and telling me how to eat it so it doesn't drip. In the middle of her instuctions, her ball of ice cream fell of her cone onto the ground. I laughed and sat there and finshed my ice cream with no problems.

Another time I was around the same age but with my cousin and my mother at MGM (back when it was MGM), though we thought it was universal. Anyway, my mother let my cousin and I go play in the Honey I shrunk the kids playset, my mother told us not to get wet from the shooting fountains, but of course my cousins goes and gets shoaked from head to toe. My mother was so mad, but then after another 15 minutes in the florida heat, we realized she was the only smart one.

My first trip to Walt Disney World occurred in 1988. I was with my brother and sister-in-law & their 3 kids (Stefanie-6, Shawn-4, Jeremy-2) and our Mom & Dad.

We flew Delta Airlines and stayed at a motel offsite that was described as being at the front gate. We thought, well we may be able to walk into the park each day....LOL! Man, were we in for a surprise! (This was a spur-of-the-moment trip and we really didn't have any time to found out what "The World" was really like.......we were expecting something like Six Flags Over Texas! And, for that I beg your forgiveness! LOL!

I have numerous special memories about that first trip. But without a doubt, my 2 favorite memories involve my nephew Jeremy who was 2.

The first memory was the way his eyes lit up and the smile on his face while sitting on the curb watching the Main Street Electrical Parade.

The second was when Jeremy met Mickey Mouse and held out his arms to be hugged by Mickey and was asking to be picked up for a big hug.

All in all, the best vacation of my life!

I have lots of firsts.

My First ice cream cone at the shop on main st.

Leaving my brothers sweatshirt at a dinner in south carolina only to find it there a week later on the way back.

Getting to drive with my learners across GA.

How big the castle was.

Learning that my favorite rides HM and POC where all really cool for some reason.

Great thread subject!

I should preface my answers with the fact that i did not make my first visit until i was 24 years of age (i'm now 30). Never experienced as a kid, and now a grown man i'm a full on, 100% Disney junkie.

- I remember saying to my girlfriend (now wife) "What do you mean get good sneakers? How much walking could there be? Isn't it all just right in one spot?

- I remember the first time i ever saw Wishes. I proposed to my girlfriend during the finale by the rose garden, in front of thousands of people.

-I remember the first time I went on Stitch, and how it was the last time

-I remember walking into what is now my favorite shop in the MK.. Main Street Bakery, and the wonderful smells and sights. Ordered a cinnamon roll and coffee.

My first trip was in 1974 with my parents and sister. Since only the MK existed back then, I have alot of memories there and the Polynesian (which was ALOT less expensive then.) We spent a good bit of time at the resort in the pool and I still remember how amazed we were that music was piped under the water. You could also swim in the water at the beach, so that was fun too. Simpler times but less hectic and great fun with my family!

My first time was in December 1973.

  • I remember riding the Monorail thru the Contemporary.
  • I remember the big Christmas Tree.
  • I remember riding 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and believing that I was really deep under water.
  • I remember meeting Dumbo & Tigger and Tigger patting my brother on the head.
  • I remember the long drive to Florida leaving very early in the morning and it still being dark.
  • I remember riding It's A Small World.
I was only 7 when we went and my next time to any Disney Park again wasn't until I was 22.

April of 1972. 3 nights at the brand new Contemporary. $32 a night, by the way. Great trip, even though the place was really small compared to now. Riding the 5-car monorails. And for some reason, on the way out of the parking lot, heading home, my father says, "Wave goodbuy, kids, we won't ever be back."

He wasn't exactly right about that.

There are a lot of memories. WDW was our honeymoon (back in Nov '03), and my first trip to WDW. DH visited MK once previously. CMs treated us like royalty by letting us enter MK early so we can eat at CP for breakfast without an ADR. We also had an excellent view of F! (front and center; the entire bench to ourselves). We had a lot of wonderful first time memories, but it would take forever to list every single thing.

When I was getting an autograph from the white rabbit some kids kept pushing in front of me so I waited and waited and then when it was finally my go he wrote in my autograph book "Alex thanks for waiting white rabbit x". The creepiest thing was ... how did he know my name, neither of my parents said my name or anything:lookaroun.

My first trip to Disney was 2 weeks ago and I am 42. Yikes!! What a loser I have been!!! My favorite moment was standing at the fencing in front of the Crystal Palace watching the fireworks explode over the castle eating a Dole Whip while standing next to the biggest Disney fan I have ever met... my brother (40 and greying LOL). It was epic! I also really loved COP and seeing the look of sheer horror on my 21 year old daughters face and we got off Space Mountain for the first time. Hahahaha we told her it wasn't really a roller coaster after all... it was MK

Our first trip was May of 89 I believe. It was sooo ungodly hot and I remember we were in the monorail inside the Contemporary. It was soo hot inside the monorail and my mom started acting like she was going to pass out. We all got off and sat against the rail on the side. I ended up throwing up all over my dad's shoes. They didnt have the elevator then so they brought a wheel chair up the escalator and then had to carefully get my mom back down them. They then gave us a ride back to our hotel the Disney Inn (now shades of green) in a van and my mom got sick again. It was awful. But I have been 38 times since then so it obviously didn't deter us!!

The first trip was in late 1970's. I remember:

Spending a lot of time at the Polynesian pool.

Watching the glass blower making animals at Walt Disney World Village.

Climbing on the ropes over the water at River Country.

Watching Michael Iceberg at the Tomorrowland Terrace.

My first trip was in 1986 when I was 8 yrs old.

What I remember most......

- Meeting Dream Finder and Figment - Figment put my brothers viser (which was around his neck) in his mouth and trying to toss it around. I remember laughing so hard! It was my favorite ride! I still have the Figment stuffed animal I got during this trip.

- Riding the Haunted Mansion - it scared me! I had my eyes covered during the entire ride! I now love the ride!

My first trip was in '87 while the Magic Kingdom was still celebrating it's 15th birthday.

I remember the original Journey into Imagination and meeting Figment. That attraction has stuck with me since I was 12 and I never forgot the song!

Spaceship Earth as narrated by Walter Cronkite. Again for some reason it just made a lasting impression on me.

In fact...I think I remember EPCOT Center more than the Magic Kingdom as I remember attractions from MK...but EPCOT really had an effect on me.

First trip was 1983

I remember that I bought some little fuzzy animals for myself in the Germany toy store(which I still have)

I remember Figment and Dreamfinder and wanting to ride it several more times in a row. I also remember meeting them both outside by the awesome jumpy fountains

I remember fireworks over the castle, and staring for many long moments at the sparkling mosaic

I remember the Haunted Mansion was 10 times better than I thought it would be, but that Pirates wasn't as good as the videos I saw before hand (which were of DL, actually)

I remember getting stuck between rooms in IASW for 20 minutes, making me never ever want to ride it again

I remember riding Mr. Toad twice just so I could ride the separate tracks

I remember the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown was a great show
and that the Kitchen kabaret made me laugh really hard

and I remember loving Horizons, and World of Motion, and being creeped out by the dinos in Energy

I have kind of a sad memory of Disney and a happy memory of Disney. I'll do the sad memory first just to get it out of the way.

I was on buses all day trying to get most of my sets of penny pressers done (I have over 175 pennies as of now hoping to finish another 100 this next trip) well I was on a bus heading towards the Grand Floridian. I didn't know where the penny press machines were so I decided to ask the bus driver where they were and I'll never forget his comment towards me at 8:57pm (that's how much I remember it) "I don't know where it is, learn your ****ing bus stops" I couldn't believe it I was floored even people on the bus were surprised by his comments. But that was my sad memory.

Now for my happy memory which was MUCH better. It wasn't even one of the parks it was just getting on the magical express bus and driving down towards my resort. From there seeing my room and knowing after 26 years on this earth and for the last 18 years wanting to be there I was finally here. My first park I went to was Epcot and it was just magical from there watching IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and looking at my wife and saying we finally made it together.

Much better memory than the first and what should have been the only memories.
