Hi everyone!

I normally keep my posts to just Disneyisms but was thinking about this and thought it would be cool to find out what kind of pets everyone has... I think people's choices in pets reflect their personalities... :-)

I have an Akita named Meiko, a Cocker Spaniel named Thumper, 2 turtles named Dopey and Bashful (are you seeing a theme here?) and a 150 gallon fish tank... (We had a rabbit named GusGus but he died and we named my mother's dog Mickey.)

Anyone else?

i absolutely agree with supporting your local animal shelter... it's very important... there are way too many animals out there in need of good and loving homes...

my cocker spaniel was a rescue from an abusive home...

our turtles were rescued from an organization who captured them and used them for races....

they have a very happy home now!!! :D

I also have a Bichon Frisee dog who is almost 14 years old named snowball but i think she was a cat in a former life because she has survived two cancer operations and had to have 80 percent of her bladder removed but she still acts like a puppy

We have 3 cats:

Littermates named Maggie and Nermal who turn 3 next month, and a scrappy thing named Chester who we rescued as a kitten from a barn last year. There is also the family dog I left behind when I got married, of whom I still claim part-guardianship

The kitties have their own album at www.picturetrail.com/erikaslivka

Yes, I am a freak.

I also have to thank some of you for your support of your local shelters. I volunteer at a cageless, no-kill shelter and we have some really wonderful residents who could use some good homes. They are happy at the shelter but it's not the same as living with a family. :(

..I agree, rescuing animals from the animal shelter is a great way to get an animal. Both of our dogs were rescues... our poor Joey was also abused, and to this day has a difficult time with men. Phoenix is very playful, and full of energy, and whoever had her before we did, didn't take time with her... she was "too much work"

OK, like you guys don't know this by now  ...

1 dog named MITZI (part beagle, part blue tick pointer)
<---- Her photo with "Tramp". I would love to have more animals, but she is 11 now and anti-social to non-people.

ERIKA- I couldn't get your link to work. Is there a problem or is it just me?

My Akita is like that too! Almost 100 lbs and thinks he is just a tiny dainty little thing! (We think he learned it from the cocker spaniel!!) But boy does he hurt when he steps on our toes!!! And he gets himself stuck in these tiny little places that he thinks he can fit into! :-) He's pretty comical!!

Here's my baby!!!

Give a big Hello to Dusty!!

She's a Husky-Shepard-Wolf hybrid. She was a rescue from a farmer who was going to put her down for killing some of his chickens. She's sweet and freindly toward people and dogs, however, if you're a rodent or bird: watch your back!!!
