What is with all these tie-ins with cartoons? GAH!

One of the things I'm sick of is Disney slapping cartoon character onto original rides. Now, I'm not saying there should be no tie-ins, but please Disney, if you're going to make an original ride with an original storyline, DON'T slap any Disney character, unless it's from a adaption of the ride (See POTC) onto it. Lets look at the list of once original attractions now slapped with Disney characters

Tiki Room
The Living Seas
It's a small world (Disneyland's version atleast)
Submarine Voyage
Alien Encounter (Well, SGE does use the same stage and sets, so....)
El Rio del Tiempo
Universe of Energy (I know Ellen is not a Disney character, but Bill Nye is, so....)

And I'm not really counting Dinosaur, because other then the statue outside, it hasn't really changed...y'know, I'd bet they do this:

Worker: Hey Boss!

Boss: What is it, boy?

Worker: I got a great idea! When we built Beastly Kingdom and Dragon Tower lets replace the dragon with Hannah Montana!

Boss:....I like the way you think.

Marketing, of course. And the character's popular.:hurl:

We need another parksculsive ASAP.

Which is what I don't like about most park goers these days.

No matter how bad the attraction is, their minds will buy it because it has their child's favorite character...bah.

I understand that but there are some rides I guess that it is okay.
Yes I think they killed SGE and The Seas, which was one of my favorite attractions in WDW, but I enjoy El Rio Del Tiempo. It used to be just a leisure cruise but now there is a story to it and it gives it a little flair.
I havent seen the new version of a Small World in Disneyland but I dont think that would be so bad either.

What I am saying is that if it is done right it might be okay to do. The Seas was overkill and The Tiki Room is ruined but if they do it proper they can still have their fun while we get ours.

Yes, exactly, I miss El Rio, but Gran Fiesta is nice, too. At least it fits the theme very well.

To tell you the truth IASM in DL is not as good as people say it is. Its just some characters slapped in and wasnt really neceassary.

I think the main focus of these is to try and continue to bring in the younger audiences, by bringing in beloved characters. I personally like the seas, and I honestly dont think there is much hope for the tiki room regardless.

Ehh....I can agree with you on some of them, but there are others that I'd rather they have tied in Disney characters than get rid of them all together. For example, Universe of Energy was not doing well until they updated it with Ellen and Bill. I remember falling asleep on this ride as a kid before they changed it. Now I love riding it!

Same for Living Seas, it was seeing low attendance and I'm betting with Sea World close by, it really needed to offer something different to the WDW crowd. Honestly, as long as they don't get rid of my manatee tank I'm happy as a clam (haha puns)

El Rio de Tiempo I think was improved with the addition of the Three Cabarellos but I don't think it really changed attendance at all. I still think most people aren't aware its even there. The others however, I think would be better in their original form!!
