What is this logo?

I've seen this logo a few times and I know it's a pin but I don't know much else about it. The logo I'm talking about is used as the "D" in the link below.

to me, it looks like it could be an older style logo, maybe from EPCOT? I do know it's still on the monorails, although quite small. Is it used anywhere else? Does anyone have any info on this?

Just a curious mind at work :hammer:

Are you talking about the "D" in the Walt Disney World logo? That's the original logo of how WDW was spelled out (with the "world ears" inside the D).

That's the original Walt Disney World logo, used from pre-opening to 1994-ish. Or, rather, the whole phrase "Walt Disney World" with the Mickey globe "D" is the original logo. Every so often, only the Mickey globe "D," or just the Mickey globe was used, such as on the monorails, the original Guest Relations pins or the survey markers.

Thanks. Pre 1994 I probably don't remember much and you don't see it used much anymore, so thank you to everyone who did not give me a sarcastic response!

I never knew they had stopped using it.

Sadly, yes. Mid-90s they switched to the Walt script/Times New Roman combo logo.

I can't remember if they were using it before the 25th anniversary, but it definitely was in place by then.

After which, it simplified to this:

The original logo has been making a strong comeback in the last few years, though I'd be surprised if it ever returned to being the primary, official logo.

Which is too bad, 'cause I think it's a much more interesting design.

Monorail Teal? I thought the monorail was just "The Monorail"...

Yeah, I remember the 25th Anniversary logo. That was what they were using the last time I was there. I assumed it was just temporary. Go figure.

Wow, never even noticed they had different colors. Actually, I didn't know there was more than one. I thought there was only one going around in circles all day. (Perhaps it was that way back when there was only the Magic Kingdom?)

Really??? When the MK opened there were 10 monorails. When Epcot was opened. 2 more were added. During peak season all 12 can be used.
