Pen in the River

Once I was helping my best friend Eeyore at the animal kingdom boatdock.... Two little boys approached Eeyore and one handed him his book, when Eeyore took the pen he had trouble getting a good grip on the pen and reacted pretty quickly trying to catch the pen, but that made things worse and the pen flew over his head and landed in the river behind Eeyore....eeyore didnt see where it went and looked around at the ground frantically trying to find the pen, he didnt see anything....the kids were yelling "its in the river, its in the river".....Eeyore put his snout over the fence and looked down and saw only the water, he covered his eyes and turned around and started to sob....then one of the greeters came up and told him it was ok, and that they would get the family a new pen from the gift shop.....but Eeyore did feel really bad ;-)

I have a few good ones.

Back int he 80's when I still lived in Michigan, a local furniture store was having a promotion to meet Mickey. My mom and I went just for the heck of it. We both thought it was going to be the fake Mickey that made appearances at a local pizza place. We got there and waited and lo and behold... the REAL Mickey came out! It was one from WDW! When it was my turn in line, Mickey started gesturing at me and his minder said that Mickey remembered me from when I was little (I was already little... maybe 10 at the time). It was actually pretty cool.

Then in 1997 I went to Epcot with my now ex-boyfriend. We saw the character bus had stopped and I wanted photos with some characters. Just as I went to get one with Goofy, he grabbed me and leaned back with me holding on for dear life. I had a big smile on my face though and it ended up being my fave character photo ever.

My last story is in January 2001. The Superbowl was in Tampa and I didn't care for football back then, so my now ex and I went to the Magic Kingdom to "get out of Dodge" for the day. As the monorail was pullin into the MK station, I saw Tigger. You would've thought I'd seen some rock star or something. I made a mad dash as soon as I got off the monorail and got in line for Tig. When it was my turn I decided to have a little fun. So I got down on my knees and did the "I'm not worthy!" bow thing. Tigger just stood there totally dumbfounded. Everyone was cracking up.

Oh have I got character stories for y'all!

I remember one of my earlier trips to WDW, during Mickey's Merry Christmas Pary, getting my picture taken with Wendy and Peter Pand and Wendy twirling my ponytail around and going "Why look! We've got matching ponytails!"

Last year I met up with 3 of my friends in WDW and we were standing down on the Frontierland docks trying to waste the 10 minutes we had until our Splash Mountain fastpasses were up. Well, we looked up and noticed one of the Country Bears wandering towards us. One of my friends seemed to be under the silly impression that being seen with a character would "cramp her style" so she suggested that we all mosey on in the opposite direction. With a sigh, the rest of us followed her...only to hear heavy thudding footseps behind us. So we broke into a jog, and the footsteps sped up. Looking behind us we saw the the Country Bear was chasing us, and his CM escort was in hysterics. Well naturally, after THIS we simply HAD to have our picture taken with him (yes, all of us...even Ms. "too cool for school"). The three of us still talk about this moment to this day.

Last summer I went to WDW again, this time with my best friend. We were out at Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast, and I had on a tank top that was bright red with white polka dots and looked EXACTLY like Minnie's dress pattern. Our waiter suggested that I get my picture with Minnie, which we all agreed was a fantastic idea so after lunch we went off to Toontown in search of Minnie. When I finally met up with her she took one look at my shirt and started jumping up and down and pointing from her dress to my shirt and showing our matching patterns off to the CM and the other people in line. Needless to say, we bought the photo and now have it framed in our living room, where it makes a great conversation piece!
