What is the current "state" of DisneyQuest; still worth it?

What is the current "state" of DisneyQuest? I had heard somewhere (I can't remember exactly; probably in these forums) some time ago, that it was a bit run down. My kids are interested in finding some time to go on our vacation later this month, but I'm not too keen on spending time in a place where a lot of the games etc. are run down or now working well. Plus, as I remember, some of their technology was pretty much already outdated in 2005 when we last went. Like the Alladin thing with those big heavy helmets with all the inertia - I just didn't enjoy some of the stuff.

We have some entitlements left over from 4 years ago that would allow us to go with just one admission charge (I had an AP at the time). What do you think - would it be worth it for us to spend a day there?

We've been a few times in the last few years, and although it could do with a little TLC, I've always enjoyed spending a few hours there. If you get involved and do all the attractions (such as Cyber Space Mountain, The Jungle Cruise, etc.) you could probably stretch it out to half a day - not much more than that

Heading for the great escape.
I always felt it was an unsupervised creche, nut on the last time I was dragged in I also thought it looked tired and shabby. Id rather play crazy golf or rent a mouse boat.

Disneyquest is still in good shape. They recently added Guitar Hero on the fourth floor as well as heads-up poker machines. It is a great way to get away from the heat, rain, cold, etc and take a break from the parks.

We usually do it everytrip on the last day, as we use the magical express check-in at DTD then go to DQ. It's good for 3/4 hours before we go to the airport.

It is tough one to say whether it is worth it or not for your situation. Would we pay extra to go to DQ? Probably not, we only usually go as its included in our ticket.

What are the alternative to you going to DQ?

When I went in March, DisneyQuest was not run down at all. The rides are fun but I did everything in about 3 hours. I would not spend a whole day there.

And it's why I would try to do it when you don't have the passes for the parks.

More for wasting your time, in a fun way. :)

I always stop by Disneyquest every trip, and who ever said the place is run down or shabby must not have gone inside. The place is immaculate.

Is it worth it?

If you like arcade games and their virtual games of course, if you don't like that kind of stuff, no.

We went in February '06 and it was pretty run down, shabby, dirty, etc. then. I'd say a good 1/4 of the arcade games weren't working which was hugely disappointing because the hubby and I were looking forward to playing a lot of our old faves. It was bad enough that we haven't been back since. We just give the boys some cash to charge their arcade cards and turn 'em loose in our resort arcade for a while. They have a great time. As for the current state of DQ, I couldn't tell ya because I wouldn't spend a nickel to go in and find out. :D

Let my premium AP expire at the end of April, but run-down is an understatement. Stains on the carpets, any given time at least a third of the video and pinball games would not be working. Nothing more than a black vinyl curtain where the old Cheesecake Factory dessert counter used to be. Apparently there have been a few minor video game additions (as mentioned, Guitar Hero, as well as these jungle-themed games), but no new "E-tickets" since opening.

The Pirates and Jungle Cruise games are fun, but really, $40 a person to play Guitar Hero and escape the heat? They are far more cost-effective options.

I haven't seen it since '07, but when I was there everything was still fine to me! I actually really enjoy DQ and am planning on going again on my next trip. If it wasn't included on my water parks and more, I probably would have passed, but the day we arrive we are getting there late enough that we are just skipping the park and spending the day in DTD. I figure 3 or 4 hours will be spent goofing off in DQ and that will be enough time to do all my favorites in there and let my hubby play lots of video games :p It's a good place to go on a rainy day or if you just have extra downtime.

For me personally, not anymore. I went in there and they got rid of the basketball game on the second floor! So with that, I will probably no longer be going to DQ.

I think I must be the only person who really loves DQ!

And I am not really a game player, so to speak...I don't play video games, and I'm not usually that competitive...but one day there brings it out in me!

Since I lived in Chicago, I have very fond memories of the Chicago location of DQ. It was like my local Disney fix when i couldn't get to the coasts to visit the parks.

I went last year in May, and I didn't find it run-down or shabby at all! Everything was in working order, and everything was still very fun to experience. I spent the day with my nephew and Mom, and we did everything several times (taking a new route on the Virtual Jungle Cruise, or a different path on the Flying Carpets, or adding new spirals to the Cyber Space Mountain ride).

There's few better feelings than showing other guests the Secret of how to get the highest score on the Mighty Ducks pinball, or showing a new crew how to win on the Battle for Buccanear Gold (which I could waste many many hours doing over and over again!)

I admit that it helps to have the price for DQ included with the water parks as an extension of the main park hopper. I think I might shell out the extra $40 for just DQ, but it helps to have the ability to return again during the same trip.

I really think it's worth it, but I guess I am in the minority.

Was it ever worth it? save yourself some money and go to a mall arcade withe $20.

Have you ever actually been to DQ? There's a LOT more there than just video games. When I go, I rarely spend any of my time playing the arcade machines and more time doing all of the interactive attractions

It's not my type of thing, but I still enjoyed spending 2-3 hours there. The old school arcade games brought back great memories, and a few of the other attractions were fun.
I would never spend the cash for it, but as one of my Parks & More admissions, sure!

Thanks for all the advice, people. I appreciate the input.

The intent of my original question, though, is not whether the DQ concept is a good one. We already know that we LOVE DQ. The thing is that we were there in 2004, and although we loved it then, it was starting to show some wear, and I had heard on these boards that things have gotten worse, and I wanted to know if that's truly the case. I seem to have gotten mixed responses in that area, but I appreciate different opinions nevertheless.

Another factor I hadn't considered is that my family has left-over entitlements that we want to use up, but I had an AP and I do not have any left-over entitlements.

But $40! Is that for ONE person?! In 2004, IIRC, it was like $17.50, or somthing like that. Double the price for fewer attractions, no dessert bar, and dirtier carpets does not appeal to me particularly.
