Why do they chant ?

I've been to Rio and Sao Paulo and never saw chanting.

Is this just a stereotype, or is it a real problem?

The same way that American tourists get labelled 'loud' around the globe.
I think it is more of a large group of young teen/adults not properly supervised, and perhaps even encouraged to behave badly. It really doesn't have anything to do with where they are from.

I don't think it's racism at all.

I was in Dubai recently, and had to adhere to strict rules about what i couldn't and could do, so as i wouldn't offend the local culture, and more importantly not break any laws.

Chanting isn't such a big deal. I thought it was worst than that. If anything chanting adds a bit of life.

The tour operators. Who sell shopping/theme park tours in America for $10000 to these rich kid pests, where they are encouraged to yell and scream and otherwise disrespect the paupers around them.

So the fault could be with the tour operators who escort them around? Could they not be banned or warned?

not in the line of POTC... all the creepy sounds and subtle marks are what make the experience. That is ruined when you have 50 kids smacking the walls and chanting over and over and over.

What do they chant ?

It must be the tour guides who are encouraging them to do this, and thus responsible. You can't just have a colony of people coming into the parks doing the same thing. This behavior isn't prevelent in Brazil.

Are the adults okay ?

Look it up on YouTube....

I like your contribution to these forums ... your main line seems to be 'google it, and do a search of past posts.'

Sorry if this thread has been done to death, was simply just asking.
