What is the AAA discount?

If you call Disney, they will only give you the AAA room-only discount. However, I called AAA directly and was given a great price on a room at Wilderness Lodge with the Dining Package. If I remember correctly, it was about $500 less than Disney Quoted. So the packages are available if you contact AAA directly.

Yes, you can get a AAA/CAA discount with a package. If you call Disney direct, you can only get the AAA/CAA room only discount. But if you go through your AAA travel agent, they can get the package with dining, with the AAA/CAA discount, if it is available for the resort you want. If it is not available at your first choice, have a couple of back-up resorts to check. There is only a certain amount of rooms available at the discounted rate, so you might have to be a bit flexible. I just booked for 9 nights in July, with dining, and the Boardwalk was the only deluxe offering the AAA/CAA discount package, and it was about $500 off the Disney rate. Here are my two cents:
I just booked a AAA moderate trip - 15% discount on rooms in December.
Last year I booked a trip in October through Disney. In early September on a whim I checked with AAA and they offered a discount of around $450. It was right before the cancellation penalty from Disney so I booked the new trip, and then canceled the old.
Reason being I did not want to cancel first, then get shut out.
Figures were as follows for 7 nights POFQ with 6 day hoppers: $1,950.
AAA Rate with the addition of dining: $2,100. Dining for 2 adults and 1 child was around $600 for seven nights. Long story short, we added the dining for the slight bump in rate, or we could have paid around $1,500.
Disney refused to match the price.
I would book through AAA and check with them frequently to see if the extra discount arises. They were really good about rebooking for me and two other parties.

Just a FYI, when Disney offered the free dining previously AAA could not give you the free dining plus the discounted room in a package. It was either one or the other. This is what I was told from Disney last year. So when/if it's dropped this year you should get the same price with Disney or any other travel agency that sells Disny including AAA.

I'm glad someone brought up AAA... I have a couple quick questions.
I've read and heard that when you buy a package through AAA, you're not limited to the same fastpass rules as everyone else... Basically that you're allowed more than 1 fastpass at a time. I first heard this was only the case at Disneyland, but then the most recent Inside the Magic podcast said it was a WDW thing, too... Does anyone know if this is accurate for EITHER location? We're plannning a trip to Disneyland for June and WDW for December, and if this is the case, I'm planning on signing up with AAA and booking through them... Even if it's the same price as Disney that's a heck of a benefit.

My trip is booked through AAA and I haven't heard of that benefit, but this is my 1st trip to book with them. I know you get the diamond parking and a discount on merchandise, food and entertainment (recreation, tours, etc). I may be wrong, but I kind of doubt that it would be possible for AAA members to bend the fast pass rules. I can't see how it could be done, how would the machine know if you were booked through AAA or not?

The way I understand it, it's not a widely known benefit. It used to be advertized for Disneyland I think, but then they stopped that which made me figure it wasn't something offered anymore. But then the inside the magic podcast had it on there as something you get when you book through AAA, and that there's nothing about the tickets or anything to tell you about it... It just "works". The listener that wrote in about it said he tried to get info up front about it, but the agents at AAA didn't know anything about it and kept passing him around... But finally he got someone that knew and confirmed it, and it worked.
It wouldn't be that hard for the system to allow something like that though... A simple code on the tickets could unlock the time restrictions.
I was just hoping I'd find someone on here that had it happen to them... I'd feel a little more confident.

the discount with AAA as mentioned is on the room only. The reason you might get the same price on a room through AAA and Disney is. AAA is allowed a certain number of rooms at a discount. Once they are all taken for the dates then you will have to pay full price going through AAA. That happened to me once - switched up the resort and found one to get the discount to save some money. Best advice is to book early.
On the FP question - I have never heard about this benefit and have booked 8 of my 10 vacations to WDW with AAA. Interest to see if this exists.

I do not think the fast pass bonus is included. I did not try on purpose but when getting a bunch of fast passes for test Track I dropped all the park passes. I had to keep putting tickets in until the fast pass would pop out of the machine since I was about halfway through getting the 4 passes that I needed.
Never thought to try to get any more out of turn.

I don't know if this would apply though, because the feature is supposed to give you multiple rides' fastpasses... Not a stack of fastpasses for the same attraction.
It would make sense... The system still knows you only have 4 tickets... It's the time restriction it's supposed to unlock.
