What Is Disney Doing Right at the Parks?

I think the Art of Animation is pretty darn good. The crushing gusher at Typhoon Lagoon is good. The new Fantasyland looks nice, but what was put in was not all that great. The mine train should help.

The new princess rooms at Port Orleans are amazing! New FL looks absolutely spectacular, especially at night! I also love the new hitch hiking ghost effect at the Haunted Mansion. The cast members go out of their way to make sure you have a magical day and even the telephone operators make sure to keep up the customer service. I really can't think of much that Disney doesn't do better than other companies.

Don't even get me started on MNSSHP and Christmas Party. The decorations are beyond compare!

I want to go to the Halloween party but I have been to the christmas party several times and it is absolutely worth the trip and price. The fake snow, cocoa, cookies - I love it.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
The parade is fantastic, and the atmosphere of FLE is very pleasant. I enjoy the new Test Track. I think beyond that, I (who was spoiled in that I could go whenever I wanted) would have a hard time referring to anything else as "recent".

1. MM+, say what you will about the teething/growing pains (its not been perfect), but I do not think people realize the full potential of this technology when its fully utilized/integrated into both attractions and logistics. Trust me, there are plenty of industries right now looking at this with envy - you have to think beyond what you see right now regarding integration, this is a game changing hardware system that can be kept current with software (aka short lead-time) updates so bravo to Disney for taking the investment plunge on the hardware system. With the creative talent that Disney has, I cannot wait to see what they do with this system.

2. Immersion/production, they still do this better than anyone. Nowhere else do I leave the world of uncleanliness, rude staff, etc so far behind so quickly.

When you look at the balance sheet over the last ten years, Parks and Resorts was a bit of a black eye compared to the other divisions, as tourism based activity took some time to recover from 9/11 and the economic downturn. Lately, its been performing remarkably well and I think we will continue to see reinvestment to keep those numbers increasing. I fully expect Disney to start capitalizing on all the IP they have acquired.

The magic is still at Disney. Since I moved to central Florida almost a year ago, I've visited Busch Gardens, Sea World and Aquatica, and WDW. There is no question that the magical feeling at WDW just can't be found at other parks. Somehow, I feel different on Disney property.

Their fireworks are the best. I've seen Wishes over a dozen times and it never gets old. Same for Illuminations. The one time Pirate and Princess Party fireworks show was by far the best I've ever seen. The landscaping at the parks and resorts is outstanding as well.
