What is considered a snack?

Is there a list of what is considered a snack at WDW on the dining plan? Just want to use wisely rather than on small stuff like a soda. Thanks!

Just about anything around the $4 price range (pastries from France & Norway, ice cream from ice cream shops, etc) falls under the snack plan. Save your snacks for the higher priced items and purchase the cheaper items like drinks, popcorn, etc.! Even if an item isn't marked with the snack logo ask the cast member. . . . .they are more than happy to let you know what counts as a snack!

Thanks Tink65 . I'm glad you posted this. Next month will be our first experience with DDP and all I had to go on was the brochure.... You don't know what you don't know... :ROFLOL:

Thanks both. A quick question. In the pdf there is a symbol with the Disney D, a drink cup, a lower case d and a lower case p. It says that is to identify snack items is that true? We walked by the counter service in Morocco and everything had that symbol and they were all priced around $10.00. Is that really a snack?

Thanks very much!

Just an example but the cream cheese filled pretzels at MK by Ariels Grotto are included on the snack plan along with the icees. My parents also got caramel apples on Main Street as a snack so it isn't just the basic ones they list. Which is great since you can get popcorn anywhere!

The official brochure only lists items that are widely available all over property. (soda, water, chips, fruit, coffee, ice cream novelties)

But as has been mentioned, there *are* other things that can be purchased with a Snack credit. Those items will be marked with the purple-and-white DDP logo next to the price on the menu boards. (Or sometimes at places like the Value resort food courts, there are individual signs in the coolers and the self-serve bakery cases with the prices and DDP logos)
Anything above-and-beyond the official brochure items are chosen by the management at each location.

The general guideline is "a snack-like item $4 or under", but that's not the steadfast rule. I've seen one or two items available over $4. There are also items under $4 that *aren't* Snacks, despite them appearing to be snack-like. (For example, at Flame Tree a couple years back, a side order of onion rings at $3.79 was an available Snack option, but a basket of fries at $3.49 was not)

If you go during the Food & Wine festival, you'll often see the Snack logo on the festival booths for the food options, which often are more than the $4 mark.

And if you're confused about what a Snack can be, ask a CM. They'll be happy to help you.

Lastly... If you'll be using a Quick Service meal credit *and* a Snack credit at the same time, the CM at the register will have to ring those up as separate transactions. It's just how the system is designed, so to be helpful and speed up the process, keep the items separated on the tray.

Oh, and my favorite uses for a Snack credit: two egg rolls from the Lotus Blossom Cafe in China, or a handmade ice cream cookie sandwich from Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square. (Last I checked, the ice cream sandwich was priced just over $4, so that's one of those exceptions)

You are so welcome! You're right, it can be daunting trying to find out was counts & what doesn't.! We've used the dining plan since 2005 and really enjoy it! Hope you have an awesome vacation and eat alot of really great food!!!!:slurp:

I'd double check with the cast member. I don't think it would be a snack based on the price. They may have been using the symbol to indicate that the item if available on the DDP but at that price I am sure that it's a meal not a snack!!

I just skimmed through the posts so I apologize if this has already been mentioned but a snack is usually a single serving item! In the past if it was under $4 you could use a snack credit. We would buy the big containers of milk at our resort and use a snack credit... but that has changed! A snack is usually $4 and under AND is a considered a single serving!
