What is Celebration?
How close is it to WDW?
Is it worth seeing?
How much does it cost?
Is there a website dedicated to it?
And anything you find interesting about please post.

Also, what is the theming of the hotel?

1940's Americana... almost Rat Pack-ish... one thing to remember though, it's not an actual Disney hotel, thus theming isn't a necessity

Some hoouse run from 350,000-750,000.
Others run 150,000-300,000.
Sounds pretty reasonable.

Wow! For some reason I thought they were a lot more than that. Around where I live (Chicago and its suburbs) places are pretty expensive so that does not sound bad at all!

I wonder what the square footage range is.

Celebration is located on what WAS the southeast corner of Disney's original property.

Disney de-annexed the property to Osceola County just before building Celebration, so Disney does NOT have the same government-like control as it does on the rest of the land. That way, citizens can live and VOTE there--- without having the ability to vote out Disney executives. (That voting issue is the reason Walt's EPCOT never got build the way he dreamed.)

A thought..

From experience:

The people who "Grew up" in Celebration are all insane and really disfunctional.

Well, the few I've met.

I met a girl from Celebration once on ICQ and I remember her saying that they were teased at school because they live in "sitcom world" or something like that. So the ones you met went to Celebration as babies?

Ooohhh!! We love Celebration and hope to retire there some day! (Only 27 right now, so that's a long long way off...) But anyhoo... My hubby and I visited Celebration quite by accident on our honeymoon 2 years ago. (We were looking for a Post Office.) We were stunned by the discovery of "The Perfect Town". Every house is beautiful and stunning and pristine. The towns is clean and nice and cute and adorable. It is like something out of a movie set!

Later that night, while waiting for Illuminations we spoke with a CM at Epcot and mentioned our discovery. What luck, he knew all about it! It is owned by Disney and very controlled to maintain that perfect environment. Apparantely, even though you own the property/house, any changes made have to be approved by a board/committe to ensure that the integrity is not lost.

It's definitely worth visiting if you have the time. I would love to go back there again. It's just perfect!!

Definately sounds worth a visit! I couldn't live there though - DH is always such a slacker about mowing the lawn and such....the committees would throw us out!
