What is broken in Dinosaur?

Lasers in vortexes
Laser portals
Pyro in vortexes
Various mini meteors
The flying P bird :D
The jumping C's :D
The laser net
The laser event horizon
The end strobe blast
Oh dear. I guess I am having so much fun on it that I barely can pay attention to all of them. :p:lol:

But the only major thing is that four times, I have been stuck around the ending, in which Dr. Seeker yells, "We aren't gonna make it!"

Oh, isn't it ironic. :rolleyes::lol:

Trust me, it is night and day difference between the original and how it currently runs. CTX is like Everest with the Yeti working. :brick:

My thoughts exactly. Really glad this thread came along and nice to see the full list of what's gone, Martin.

My similar Maelstrom & Dinosaur: Reduced Effects & Calmer Ride thread drew about 30% responses that I had just imagined it all as being better and it was all in my head.

So many effects in the tunnels have evidently been lost, and they made the temporal displacements feel so much more powerful. The flash-blindedness and everything truly made you feel you were jumping between two places when I rode it in its early days as CTX.

My second ride as Dinosaur, when we jumped back in time, all the tunnel lights lazily turned off without the help of the lasers and strobes and it almost seemed a joke. Kinda of like the time machine, as opposed to spitting a watermelon seed forcefully back 60 million years, choked a hairball into the last century. :p

Still probably one of my top 10 favorites, :) but it was a masterpiece back in the day.

Don't you hate that. I got stuck at that part last year, and I was sitting with a first time family. They kept asking, is this where it always stops at, does this always happen? I told them, just give it a minute :animwink:

Classic case of this:

When we visited the parks in May, 2 of the people in our group had never been on Dinosaur before, so we all hop on and towards the end of the ride, it seemed to be going slower than I remembered, and then we get into the light tunnel where they say, "They're not gonna make it, they're not gonna make it!" and the ride stops and all the lights go off, it is silent for about 2 seconds, when my friend who had never been on the ride whispers, "did we not make it?" I laughed hysterically... Anyone else?

Some broke, some were decreed to expensive, and some were deactivated for `safety` reasons.
You should work in management.
I'm sorry if I sounded like I was settling but those effects are done and they'll never come back most likely, so I just try to make the most out of it even though I do miss that pyro in the tunnel

Yea lol and its there or either when the carontaurus is getting ready to chrage. The funny thing is that you stop but the vehicle keeps bouncing.

I see frequent references here to Dinosaur's effects being in
a poor state---I rode it last year, and will be back soon. My point is,
if you don't know what's broken, you can't know that you missed it.
For this time back, I'd like to be more in the know.

Can someone let me know what doesn't happen in the ride, that I might
be missing, lol? What's the list?

What's broken? All of the Indiana Jones scenery... :ROFLOL:

But in all seriousness, the ride seems to be working fine for me every time I ride it (except for those three broken rides at the end of the park's 10th anniversary).

Actually, the vehicle bouncing near the charging Carno isn't something broken or the ride getting backed up, but rather your vehicle getting stuck in the mud and spinning its tires. (Or at least the motion base simulating that)
That's why you feel like you're sliding down the hill, the computer responds "loss of traction", and if you're on the right-hand side of the car you can hear the tires spinning in the mud. Then Seeker says "Four-wheel drive! Punch it!" and you zoom out of the mud.

Although if you *do* get stuck in a ride vehicle backup at that point (which now that I re-read your post I realize is probably what you were referring to), the rover keeps stuck-in-the-mud shimmying until it can continue on. Keeps up the storyline.

No worries. It`s still a blast. In the past :D

I know, no emotion at all. CTX may have had more effects (I never got to see them), but Dinosaur has the better script

The script in that video never saw it to opening day (or at least not very long after opening day). I'm sure Martin would know for sure, but I know that by my first visit in 12/98 (when it was still CTX) the script was pretty much exactly what we have today.

When these effects went down, I originally thought that they might come back up for the more peak times of the year, for the big crowds.

But alas, they have not.

The laser effect is the one I miss the most. It really added to what was going on.

The last time I was there (Apr. 2006) I thought the closing strobe effect was still operational. I can't imagine the exit without it. How long has it been down?

The strobe strike (the single big one) at re-entry was down last summer and in October 2007. I`ll find out in 2 weeks if it is back. What is maddening is that the audio for both this and the opening laser portal still plays.

When I was there last (March 09) the laser effect was not working properly, come to think of it, I don't think I ever saw it fully working (been there 10 plus times since 2001). Well I hope it's working next week ... I won't keep my fingers crossed :(
