What Is At The Top Of Spaceship Earth?

At the top of sse,(where the earth and the star projections are) I see all these different shadowed levels, it looks like maybe they were once building tops or something, but I cant confirm. Was there ever anything else here? or has it always been just a digital projection of stars and earth. Seems like alot of wasted space up there, the message is cool, but still seems like they couldve done alot more with such an open area.

I was just on SSE earlier this week and couldn't help but think of that thread. Was it ever confirmed that the girl in the window became kaiko and then she is now the girl in the cave scene post 2007 refurb?

One thing I noticed from my trip a couple days ago is how BRIGHT the earth projection is. I really wish they would have finished the moonbase82 concept...all you see are the faint outlines of the ghetto moon crater cutouts. Would have been great to have seen this finished in 2007 where you are drifting along the surface of the moon.

Anyway to answer the poster's question, it's just different storage facilities and projectors, etc.

Just looking at the thread, there seem to be 2 extra pages that are not visible. That's quite a few deleted posts. I don't remember any arguements in there that would have led to deleted posts.

only problem with that thread is the one post that shows you all the picturs doesn't work properly anymore, and you can't see any of the pictures! most annoying :p

edit: and i am now never riding it again after learning that there is a skinned AA sitting at the top of the dome. freaky.

I loved reading that thread! I was SO happy a few months back when I finally managed to find the blacked out space station thing. For some reason I thought it was more near the top, and could never figure out what people were talking about.

But one day, when my car had turned around backwards and was starting to descend, I had my head back and my eyes closed. I opened them just as the screens were coming on and BAM! There it was, lurking in the darkness. I couldn't believe I'd never noticed it there before. I was so surprised that it was so close, I nearly yelled out loud. :ROFLOL: But I was so excited to finally find it!

edit: And now I just HAVE to stare at it every time I ride!

There was a guy in front of me using a triple flash and I got a chance to see what I like to call the random floating square and the walls with the bumpy cutouts to make it look like your on the moon. Wasn't the top also planned to give an effect of being the moon, it still is but weren't the surroundings supposed to be lit?

I was up there this morning. Just be lucky you can't see any more than you can now because it's quite ugly up there. Vehicle parts and bits as well as a few pieces of spare track are on the floor. There is a storage room for extra animatronic wigs and another small area for custodial use. The upper right area is the structure for the top of the fright elevator. Directly above that is a cherry picker for the hatch to the roof (not centered in the room) but lately it's be left extended with black drapery over it.

Couldn't believe all of the sunflower seeds and chewed fingernails that I found along the track last night. There were so many of them that I thought by the time I reached the top I might find a human hand.

I not sure what would be scarier - the "fright elevator" or a ride up to the hatch on the roof.

Perhaps they are one and the same? :D

oh yeah the "window" is a freaky set piece. I look at it everytime I ride. I mean the window the girl was looking out from isn't big...it's been painted over with black paint but DAYUMN the whole set is like 4 meters tall maybe 13 ft long...it;s huge and all scary and nasty looking sitting there bolted to the wall.

I still wonder about the animatronic girl in the window...why would disney spend so much money deconstructing the space station scene yet leave her skinless in the window...wouldn't it make sense just to remove her?

Raven, you need to find the access latter to the window and see if she's still in there.
