What if you CAN'T stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite?

interesting, if the video footage of that suite off the travel channel does that room any justice it looks extremely luxurious.

It happens but that's Disney's policies; not mine. No reason to complain to me. I don't enforce the rules; I just tell 'em.
Geez, you're being rude. He's asking a simple question, not complaining. If he was going to complain it certainly wouldn't be in your direction, being that you have no say in what Disney does or doesn't do.

If I had to choose between a night in Cinderella's Castle and my flight home, I know which one I'd choose. I'd be switching my flight to the following day because there is no way I'd be passing up my chance for a stay in the castle.

I don't have a job away from home right now but I know when I did I would be on the phone with my boss, the airline, etc. changing my plans. If I had that opportunity I wouldn't pass it up. I'd do everything I could to make the most of it. :)

Not complaining, and I did post to not take this as an arguement...just putting out there some thoughts that came up in a conversation that my wife and I were having. I have no quarrel with you Lori, I'm sorry you took it that way...my apologies....

Thank you all for your responses.

I think your post is a great, "what if"...I am sure many have thought about it.

I think I would change my flight, as well. It's a once in a lifetime thing and you can say you really "stayed in the suite". I wouldn't want to look back and say, "man, was I stupid."

And I believe in Disney and think that the dream squad is there to help, not tarnish the Disney name. I think if you really could not change plans, than they would find some other prize. Maybe not to top that, but I don't think they'd just move on. They pick people for certain reasons. Just a hunch I have.:)

The Dream Squad does not pick any of the prizes. The prizes are randomly picked by computer. The dream squad is told where to go, at what time, to which seat, area, or number a person in a line. The guests are then taken away to a seperate area if it requires an eligiblilty check, and then awarded. They dont look around for an deserving family, they have no say in who gets the prizes. If I am mistaken, sorry, but I am 99% sure this is the process.

...and so lies answered one of my many questions!

I've always had a Seinfeld-esque theory that the great adversary to Disney Magic is a Harsh Reality Check (which I like to call Awkwardmomentum)

The formula goes: For every unit of upward motion that Disney Magic enables, there is an equal and perhaps greater probability of damage induced by the ever present potential force of Awkwardmomentum

As presented in this example:

"SIR! YOUR FAMILY HAS JUST BEEN CHOSEN TO LEAD THE PARADE TODAY!"

"Yeah...but..."

"STEP RIGHT THIS WAY!"

"But I..."

"GO AHEAD!"

"Um.... I've got a really bad case of the runs.... can this wait?" Awkwardmomentum then forces the utter destruction of the moment.

I had been wondering that whole Castle Suite thing for awhile. I'd also been wondering what the, *ahem*, "policies" are regarding your stay.

I don't think you need to apologize. This was a legitimate question to ask. I think it's a great conversation/thread starter. It taught me a lot! It's good to know Disney has all their tracks covered. I mean, I didn't doubt this, but it's good to know exactly how they would handle all of the guests' circumstances!

All I know is that if I won a night in the castle suite, I would def change my travel arrangements, call off work, do what I had to do to stay for the night:king:

Are you allowed to have guests up to the room before retiring for the night? We're traveling with two other families in July; if one of the families should win, can we all enjoy the room for the evening or just the family that won?

No "just visiting" guests, just the winner and the (up to) 5 additional guests they choose to spend the night. (Can you imagine someone in a school group winning and trying to have 200 cheerleaders up there?)

As for a Guest not being able to make use of the Suite that night, perhaps they award them the alternate prize given to mail-in entries in the instances where the computer decides to award the Castle Suite to a mail-in entry.

From the Official Rules:

YOAMD Official Rules said:
If a prize requiring the winner to be present at a Disney Property is designated for award (such as a DREAM FASTPASS badge or the one-night stay at the Cinderella Castle Suite), a winner entering via mail will receive an alternate prize of comparable or greater approximate retail value ("ARV") as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, such as a special edition pin and lanyard, a special edition Dream Mouse Ears or a merchandise gift basket (which may include a Disney Gift Card).

Oh, just found this in the rules...
Section 3f:

YOAMD Official Rules said:
If a selected participant in a Disney Property chooses to accept a prize, but does not use the prize, he/she will forfeit the prize altogether (and its value) and Sponsor will have no further obligation with respect to that winner or that prize. If a selected participant in a Disney Property chooses not to accept a prize, the prize may be randomly awarded again to an alternate winner, time permitting and at Sponsor's discretion and Sponsor will have no further obligation with respect to that participant or prize.

While my guess is that this section is more geared toward people not using all of their Dream FastPasses on the day they're awarded (because they're good for that day only), I'm sure it could apply to the Suite, too. It seems like Disney *could* just say "tough luck" to someone who can't use the Suite that night. Whether they actually *would* do that we have no way of knowing unless/until it happens.

This is such GOOD INFORMATION to KNOW. I'm sure that if we get to go in May [fingers crossed], we will get approached by the Dream Team for this very situation. [holding my breath].:p

Having toured the castle suite, I'm not sure I'd want to spend the night in it. It's very beautiful with a lot of really cool technology, but it still feels almost "too perfect". Like, I would feel uncomfortable using the toilet and the shower and walking around it in my pajamas.

If I did win, I think rather than sleep in it, I'd just stay awake all night and make the concierge do all kinds of silly things for me and play with the neat remote control. :)

We have been to WDW six times since the Year Of A Million Dreams started, and we have never even SEEN the Dream Squad, or whatever they are. It has never even crossed my mind what would happen if I won the Suite stay on my last day there, but I tend to agree with the OP, I think I would immediately kill Carrot Top. :)

(disclaimer: this is intended as a JOKE, I do not want to kill any comedians)
