What if you CAN'T stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite?

What if you can't (or choose not to) stay in the Suite as a gift? Is there a consolation prize? Are you left with the dream of what "might have been" and nothing to show for it?

So, what happens?

I'll amend this question....

Could I postpone my stay in the suite? For example, it's the last day of our trip and we have no choice but to be on our flight to be at work the next morning. However, we will be bakc in 2 months for a long weekend when we could do it. Since they theoretically have not yet chosen someone for those nights, would they do this?

Also, my wife was wondering, when the Dream Team taps you on the shoulder, do they ask about your plans in terms of staying until the next day or so BEFORE trying to give the prize, or do they immediately go in to give mode and leave the possibility open for major dissappointment and no "consolation" prizes to fill the void?

The answer is no. You have to use it on that day. If you cannot then it's your lose.

Lori please do not interpret this as an arguement, I'm just expressing a conversation my wife and I just had....

I must say, if this the way it goes, it seems to be anti what Disney would be about, especially it there was nothing given in exchange....

I just picture it...."Good morning! You and your kids have won a huge prize! You get to stay in Cinderella's Castle tonight!"

"Excuse me, our flight home leaves in 5 hours..."

"Oh I'm sorry...turn off the music and clean up that confetti....NEXT!"

I understand rules and such, but I would be really sour if I were approaching about a large prize that I would generally take if it weren't for an unchangable schedule and NOT evne get some Mickey Ears for my trouble.

It happens but that's Disney's policies; not mine. No reason to complain to me. I don't enforce the rules; I just tell 'em.

The Dream Squad will ask a potential winner several questions to determine if he or she is eligible to win the prize (are they a CM? are they related to or do they live with CMs? where are they from?). They won't be told what prize they've potentially won until the Dream Squad is fairly sure that they are eligible. I'm not sure if establishing a Guest's itinerary is part of the initial screening process or not. I do know that it's happened several times that a Guest is unable to accept the prize due to travel plans. Guest Relations will attempt to work with the Guest and their airline to try to reschedule their flight if the Guest so desires.

I thought about this when I was there last time. I would honestly change my flight if I was offered a night in the castle on my last day there. It would be worth the change fees for the once in a lifetime chance.

Change my flight, quit my job, skip class, miss a funeral, kill a person--yeah, I'd do just about anything. Well, maybe not the last one. :lookaroun

is this gift given to one lucky family every day? when/where kinda thing?

<=== noob here.
Yup, on most days during the Year of a Million Dreams (Part Deux), a one-night stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite is randomly awarded to one person. This person just happens to be in the right place at the right time, such as (random example) the third person from the left on the center carriage of Soarin' at 9:36 am. They can take up to five other guests with them.

Technically, it's given to a random guest. It may or may not be a family, but the room sleeps four [or maybe more]. As part of the continuing Year of a Million Dreams, the Dream Teams award a number of different prizes throughout the properties [WDW and DLR] to random guests.

I don't think the Suite is given away every night, some nights have been press stays and there have been nights given as prizes in other contests, but most nights, yes.

I think they have said that the suite sleeps 6. I was very excited since we happen to have 6 in our family. :sohappy:
