What hotels arent effected by smoking ban?

I have read that some hotels on Disney property that arent owned by Disney arent effected by the ban... anyone know which ones? I know one of them is the Hilton on Hotel Plaza Boulevard. I figure I still have 6 weeks and read that Disney is allowing all smokers who booked rooms expecting the ability to smoke, to rebook else where if they choose. I want to find out my options. Why stay and give money to WDW and stay at the WL and not be able to enjoy a cigg if I can still stay on Disney property and still get the transportation to and from the parks and be able to light up in my room!

I wasn't confused at all.
I wouldn't expect anyone to get removed from any of WDW for smoking where they shouldn't and I see people have to put out their death stick every time I go to WDW. Now it could be due to me standing right behind the offender and coughing loudly until they comply with WDW rules or me trotting off to get a CM to intervene either way I get what I’m after. For me, WDW putting a written policy in front of me with a dollar sign is an invitation to me to get scofflaws in trouble. :ROFLOL:

Well bravo for you as you are the only person I have ever heard of that actually saw a castmember do anything about smoking in non-designated areas.

Im actually hoping for quitting but not until I come back from WDW... here in Delaware they just started a program for residents that if you want to quit they will hook you up with a counselor as well as the nicoderm gum and patches all at no cost!!

Well hell, why not use the ban to your advantage? I mean, WDW can be stressful for some people, especially when you're trying to make the whole family happy at the same time, but the difficulty involved in getting to a place where you can smoke might make it easier to smoke less. Think about the bare-bones minimum amount of cigs you need a day to feel normal, then ask yourself if there's any way you can get by on even fewer than that? If it's not possible, forget I asked, but if you can pick away at the amount of cigarettes you absolutely have to smoke, it'll make quitting that much easier when you're ready. In fact, why not try scaling back now? Don't cut back by half or too severely. Try one less cig tomorrow than you had today. Go gradual. You might be able to reach a point where, by the time you get to WDW, you are comfortable with only a few cigs a day, and the schlep outside isn't so bad because it's not so often. And since cigarettes are so damn expensive nowadays, the money you save smoking less can go to an extra soveneir, or another sit-down dinner or something else extra and special and extra-special...

Either that, or see about getting the patch or some Nicoderm gum before you go. It might help the edge off, too. Not trying to be obnoxious, but if quitting is something you're wanting to do, planning to do, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad to start the process now. Not cold turkey. Just gradually scale back. And the time you spend in WDW not-smoking is more time you're spending making memories with your family.

Unless your family is filled with a bunch of creeps.

In that case, maybe it's better you have to go far away to smoke. :D

I know, I'm great. Just ask me and I'll tell ya. Victims are made not born and I choose not to be one you on the other hand seem to be ok with that and bravo for you.

And I hope you're not telling me that CM's don't/won't do their jobs if approached by a rule abiding, paying, nice asking customer are you?? I wonder how many CM's post to this board that may take offence to that remark?

I don't really think he said anything like that. The claim was that many CM's ignore the smoking out-of-area rather than create trouble, which in my observances has been true...

Well, I will (respectfully) tell you that there are definitely CM's that will not do anything to people smoking where they are not supposed to. On our last two trips (last July and last April.....2 weeks ago), I went up to several CMs and informed them of smokers (who were just steps away) and they did nothing. One even said (very rudely) "What do you expect me to do?" I won't go into the whole thing, but YES, there are CMs who will not say anything to people who are smoking in non smoking areas.

But, I do want to add that I saw one very nice elderly gentleman CM who was politely but forcefully telling a very rude man he could not smoke just anywhere. This was in Animal Kingdom. That is the ONLY one I saw doing anything about it.

CM'S do not want somebody taking their name and reporting that they were rude or something like that.
Is it worth their job over it? NO!

I'm not sure what you are saying here. Do you think if they don't follow through with imposing the rules that I would not take their name and report them??

Please don't take offense at this, but this is exactly why people think they can do whatever they want wherever they want. If you stand by and do not force the issue then nothing changes and the problem only gets worse. When I am at WDW and I ask a CM to please speak to the offending person and they do not then I ask for a manager to be called. This has happened four times in the last 2 years. I told the manager that the CM was very helpful but may have felt uncomfortable in speaking to the offender. All four of those times the manager took care of the issue.
