I was at disney during the fourth of july and on a sign under the magic kingdom it said park full. I was just wondering what that means or if it was true.

That happens on certain special dates. When that happens, there is of course, a security plan. The first thing that happens according to that plan, is that the busses stop going to that specific park, and only take people out of it. ;)

I went to typhonn lagoon and we were told they were closed.......kids were upset but to be honest we were glad to be told. It would have been horrible to be in there and it be so packed! I thought for a moment and felt bad the last person that was let in.....imagine being in that water park with no beach chairs.... crowded pools ...and not to mention... the long lines. With my luck I'd be behind the hairy guy in the tight speedos waiting to get on a slide!!!:lookaroun

There are actually different phases of how the park closes. If a park goes to Phase 2 it means that the they are no longer allowing guests to park in the lot. But buses still run from the hotels. However as long as you can get to the entrance they will let you in. Phase 3 is when the parking lot is closed and all resort transportation stops. But you will still get into the park as long as you can get to the front gate somehow. Phase 4 is when resort transportation stops, the lot is full, and nobody is allowed in the park. They'll usually wait till a few thousand people leave the park and then the front gates will be opened again.

Yes. The phases are designed to always allow WDW resort guests first priority.

since the late 70' its been a pretty good bet that the peroid between christmas and new years will get to capacity and close to day guests. since I know this happened quite often between 71 and 80 durring my visits.

I like to know if there has ever been a time when the parks reached full maxuim capacity where even WDW resort guests were turned away?

I thought I read somewhere that WDW resort guests are guaranteed entry into parks... Can’t remember were tho :hammer: But if park is full... who would want to enter anyway

what IS full capacity? Number Wise? for each park...

How much people can each park hold?

Disney does not disclose these numbers. However, I can tell you that on a day in which the Magic Kigdom is not considered full there could be upwards to 55,000 people in there.

I heard that when the park closes only resort guests are allowed in. So all you have to do is flash that fancy resort card thingy lol :)

well, for some perspective, total capacity of Fantasmic is nearly 10,000. Often there is two showings in one night, thats makes 20, 000. Plus not everyone stays (obviously). I am guessing here, but i think MGM's capacity would be around 50,000, and thats MGM not even as big as MK, EPCOT and AK.

My two cents.
