What happened to Pixie Hollow?

I would have liked the area if it came with the ride with the interesting and innovative effects that was rumored around here a while ago.

PH would have also cost a fortune, but they put all the money they wouldve saved into this new mine cart ride, which got money from not building the mini castles, which means... oh wow they got cheap on us

I chose an actual attraction over a glorified meet and greets....so in this case PRAISE JESUS:sohappy: that Disney decided to go CHEAP on us. Sometimes less is more:animwink:

I'm SURE this has been answered elsewhere, but sifting through all the threads that a search for "Pixie Hollow" brings back is daunting.

I know the people on these boards have known (or strongly suspected) that PH was scrapped a long time ago, but was it ever actually announced by Disney?

It was announced by Jay Rasulo in September, 2009 at the first D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Jay used some clever language however, by saying "Someday when our vision of Fantasyland is fully realized, you'll meet Tinkerbell and her friends in Pixie Hollow." Clever use of words there Jay.

The following YouTube clip is from that Jay Rasulo presentation back in '09 to a full house inside the 10,000 seat Anaheim Arena. You can jump to the 3:45 mark on the video just for the Pixie Hollow stuff, but the first few minutes are hilarious because of the overly-excited gasps and cooing excitement of the adult Disney Geeks sitting near the cameraman. Jay could have shown sketches of a proposed churro cart for 2013 and these folks would have still gone "Oh my God! It's fabulous!"

I seriously doubt the mine cart coaster is cheaper than some meet and greets, no matter how elaborate the set design is. Building a new ride system from the ground up can't be cheap...

I for one am excited with the omission. There appear to be way too much meet and great and shops in the original plan. Glad they made adjustments. Loving the Mine coaster.

I agree. There was WAY TOO MANY. I was so completely turned off to the expansion UNTIL word of the Mine ride started circulating.

The concept now rots and lies stinking in the earth. Where it belongs! :sohappy:

Man I couldn't disagree any stronger, Pixie Hollow would be an amazing addition to MK. As a 27 year old married guy I'm not ashamed at all to say I love the new popularity of Tinkerbell through the new films and I feel Pixie Hollow would be a welcome addition.

I thought that Pixie Hollow was to make it easier for sons and dads to wait while their family members are in a princess shop or ride.

I think it's a shame that PH was cut from the plans -- maybe a smaller version of what they had originally planned would have have been perfect, as others have already mentioned. At DL, Pixie Hollow is tucked away in a lush garden setting, complete with five different light shows every 15 minutes. I think something like this would have been perfect for FLE
