STEVE GAVE HIM THE BOOT?!?!??!?!?
Is this true Steve?
Passionate members get the boot? Wow, what a civil board this is...
He was clearly more good than he was bad. Ya know, sometimes the views of passionate members make these kind of discussions a lot more interesting and gets alot more voices involved. He wasn't hurting anyone.
Actually..he asked Steve to give him the boot if I recall his last post correctly
hhmmmm...
he obviously was upset over something. does anyone have visual or text proof?
personally, I would like to hear the story from Steve, because I think it is unacceptable that someone gets booted for being passionate.
Everyone gets a little hot headed sometimes, and he didn't much at all. He would get very involved with Disney World, so, of course he would care deeply when Disney made bad choices. Steve, you willing to explain?
He crossed the line one too many times.

This is Steve's board, it's his rules.
1- He was a previously banned member (RobFL) , which the fact he had an account should have been enough to get him banned. However Steve showed a nearly infinite amount of compassion and allowed him to get away with returning... for a while.
then the snarky traits returned and when he would
2- continue to attack members who disagreed with him and
3- repeatedly ignore warnings from the moderators
but Steve let it slide... he's a forgiving Steve.
but then
4- Merf crossed the line and Steve's patience ran out.
Moral of the story is:
It doesn't matter how an unwelcome a___ole contributes to the site, that doesn't detract from the fact that he's still an unwelcome a___ole.

I think it's best to PM Steve if this bugs you so much. I've never seen Steve do anything unreasonable in all my time on these boards, and generally think he does a fantastic job. Can't see this being any different, and I used to enjoy merf's updates too imho.
I just have one question. What does this have to do with Walt Disney World News and Rumors????
I suppose it can be indirectly related as it's about one of the more reliable sources of Disney News/Rumors to come around for a while.I just have one question. What does this have to do with Walt Disney World News and Rumors????
my goodness. I obviously don't read the boards enough. (i guess 10+ visits a day isnt enough).
Everytime I saw his posts, they were updates that I enjoyed or passionate comments about how disney needs to improve or various things such as that.
I wish you had some screen shots to prove to me that this was justified.
and really...an unwelcome a***ole?
was that necessary?
somehow, i don't believe "infinite amount of compassion" had anything to do with this.
:ROFLOL: 100 times a day isn't enough for some members
Some of his posts were useful, but most were snide replies to when people disagreed with him. That was his primary problem. If a reply wasn't filled with praise or if it contradicted what he said, he didn't react nicely. Robert (merf) is a smart guy who knows what he's talking about on a lot of things. However, he didn't know how to play well with others and generally wasn't tolerant of those with differing views when it came to Disney. It's one thing to express disagreement calmly and intelligently, but merf didn't do either of those things, generally throwing accusations and antagonizing those who disagreed with him.
Banned member, RobFL. Robert from Tampa, FL.
Banned member, Mousermerf. Robert from Tampa, FL.
Both have the same birthday, both same real name, same city, same posting style, same back story as to their ties to Disney, and the same glorious rise and fall from the top of the Disney message board celebrity stardom.
Well, he was unwelcome and he we was an a___ole. so...
...I can't say it was unnecessary.
Steve could have banned him at first suspicion. He didn't. He allowed him to linger while posters complained about his attitude and behavior on the boards. I'd like to think that Steve gave him a second chance.
