What happened on Dinosaur?

It did used to move. It was last in operation during the summer of 2001. It uses a cable-drive to move along the track and was put out of operation when the cable broke. The design caused the cable to fall directly on the track below and could have seriously injured someone had a vehicle been in the wrong position. The maintenance/ops managers then said that they would not put it back into operation until the drive mechanism was redesigned to ensure safety in the event of another failure.

There are several threads available on the CTX/Dinosaur changes on this site.
Thank you! That was a very good explanation.

they should have kept the countdown to extinction theme. but when i had rode the ride the park had just opened.. and i noticed that a lot of the figures i saw in the ride looks a lot like pictures i had seen of toys for disneys new CGI movie dinosaur. I recall saying to my brother... i bet when that movie comes out they will change the name of this atraction.

It's nice to dream tho...Dinosaur:Countdown to Extinction.

I also get the side where my Carnotaur friend see's me..I like to tick him off and make him follow us.:D

Then he get's mad and lunges at everyone cuz he wants to come along too. Sure Aladar is the "so-called" star. But let's just be glad those Monkey's were not used...:lookaroun

Okay, I just got back from my Disney vacation, which I went before in 2002, so I ride it and, did they changed something in the end? Cause I could have swore that there was a Carnitaur on a cliff at the end, but I was scared to death when I saw it right in front of the car looking at us.:lookaroun

I'm such a baby...my eyes are closed as soon as I sit my buns in the ride...so I couldnt tell what differences there are:lol:

I remember the first time me and my friends went on it...we went through the red flashy tunnel thing and we "went back in time", and we were all like, OMG this is so gay! Then like, 2 minutes later we're like freaking out and when we saw our picture we all had our heads down in each other's laps  We ended up riding it 5 more times in a row right after that.
