I don't think Transformers will be that big of a success. Why? Two words:

Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix comes out this summer too. I think alot of people havent really thought about the impact of this movie on the summer season. It may not bypass Pirates, but It should be in the top 5. I have no desire to see Shrek, or Spiderman or Transformers..... But Potter and Pirates are a MUST on the big screen! I have to pick and choose what I spend my money on, and it will definately be those 2 this summer! I would LOVE to go to the El Capitan to see the Pirates special event, and cost is not an option there, because the cost of a regular movie with popcorn and soda would be way more here!

If you convert Gone With the Wind tickets into todays prices it then takes the highest grossing film....ever.....

Let's take a show of hands as to who honestly believes that Pirates 3, Spidey 3 and/or Shrek 3 will overtake Titanic (Haha) I don't believe I will see it's defeat in my lifetime....

I thought Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the highest grossing considering inflation

Wow...it's been quite a while since I've seen that list.

So nice to see Star Wars floating at #2. Now granted that a lot of the movies near the top have also had multiple releases.

Titanic is the only recent film in the top 10...which is quite amazing..whether you like it or hate it...it's still amazing.

If you see some of the new trailers you might change a bit. A lot of bay haters I have talked to have changed how they feel since seeing the new trailers.

I'm happy that we have so many entertaining moves to go watch at theaters.

It is pointless to discuss all time box office records unless you use the adjusted gross, and even then it is not accurate enough. When I was a kid, a single movie would be released to theaters 2 or 3 times in a five year period.

Comparing movies that have been out for only a few years is much more legitimate.

Now, this summer?? Going to be a close call. Too close, I think.
