What does it really say?

Thanks for the lyrics....still doesn't make much sense to me! :)
not really sure why i asked what it really says because i'm sure i'll never ride it again and not think of what my husband actually says! LOL

I think it makes more sense when you write it out and add punctuation to it:

"How do you do?" Mighty pleasant greetin'.
"How do you do?" Say it when you're meetin'.
"How do you do?"
With everyone repeatin': "Pretty good, sure as you're born."

i.e. they're describing a conversation where one person asks "How do you do?" and the other person replying that they're "pretty good, sure as you're born."

I remember reading a thread about this looooonnnngggggg ago. And someone thought they were saying, "Pretty good, show us your bone." :lookaroun

It wasn't until after reading that thread and watching a copy of song of the south that I figured out what they were really saying. "Pretty good, sure as your born."

Wow, with all the people who think it's "Pretty good show us your balls" or "Pretty good show us your bone", no wonder they call it "Flash Mountain"!

So....the song on splash mountain says something and we can't figure out what it says, but my husband (who makes up his own words to all songs anyway) always say's "pretty good, show us your balls" LOL...it's so funny cause he says it every time that part of the song comes on and we don't know what it says otherwise! HELP! LOL:p

:ROFLOL:That's funny thought my family was the only ones that did that. We always say that its "pretty good show us your bum!" :ROFLOL: We need help!

For years, I thought it was "Pretty good, show us your board/bored" - which makes no sense whatsoever really. I had to do a lyric search to figure it out. But now I will always think "Pretty good, show us your balls" when I hear it!

It's funny how phrases and expressions come and go.
"Sure as you're born" used to be a very common expression denoting an absolute, the idea being that the answer is as certain as your (or anyone's) existence. It is the antiquated (and far more poetic) equivalent of "without a doubt".
Although I believe it is still in use sparingly in some corners of the globe it has almost completely vanished from our vernacular.
Maybe this will help.

I grew up listening to this song and I always knew the real lyric, but when a friend pointed out "show us your balls" that's all I think of on the ride now

LOL I just looked up the UK meaning for the word "" I LOLed really loud and almost spit my diet coke on my monitor, the pack thread holds a whole new meaning for me now. ROFLMAO!!

Back on topic, I never really put much thought into what they were saying on Splash Mountain, guess I never really cared. I just enjoy the scenery. :P

Don't feel bad, it took until I was 23 and 8 trips to WDW before I figured out what they were actually saying.

That's nothing. On the Finding Nemo recording, on the track "Go with the Flow," it starts out by saying "Focus, Dude." But the way it is recorded, it sounds like "'F...' us, dude". It took seeing the show again to hear it the right way.

I know this is an old post but I had to prove to my grown daughter that other people think that the lyric is "ball(s)" I just got back from DWorld and heard this misheard lyric from people in line and it made me laugh. Sure enough if you type "splash mountain pretty good" into google "balls" is the second search. In people's defense "Sure as your born" is a old saying and pretty much southern or rural American so not everyone would get it.
