What does a 10 crowd level feel like??

I thought October was a good time to go to WDW-- so I was surprised to find that the crowd levels for next Sunday, Oct 9 are a 10 for the Magic Kingdom! It is Columbus Day week-end and the last nite for the MSEP. Crowd levels are a 9 for Animal Kingdom on Monday, Oct 10.
By Tuesday, Oct 11th, our anniversary day, the crowd levels go down to 5-6. ah breathing room!

My husband and I are going for our 30th ann --staying at the Poly -- and are not so interested in the rides but the atmosphere and dining-- the parades and shows --crazy us but we wish this vacation to be relaxing! -- so 3 fastpasses are plenty for us.

But I am wondering how crowded it will feel?? any tips to navigate the crowd? The Touring plans really are not relevant for us, because as I wrote, its not about the rides for us. We want to bask and savor the decorations, the sights, sounds and smells--notice all the little details and soak up the Magic. We booked the Wishes Dessert Party for Oct 9th so we will have a good spot to view the Fireworks--one of my highlights.

The MSEP performs at 9 and 11--with the MK closing at Midnight. Hoping the 11p show will be less crowded--what do you think??

Thanks for any tips, insights, advice!
Andrea

Congrats on your anniversary!

Unfortunately, for this year it is also during WDW's 45th anniversary (October 2, 1971), so I assume October will be busier this year more than others!

Funny story. I was in the MK a few years ago, watching Wishes from the central plaza, off to the Adventureland side of the Partners statue. It was just totally wall to wall, and there was nothing to do but stand and wait till the crowd down Main Street thinned a bit. Sure enough, behind me came a young Asian couple, smiling and head-ducking as they tried to force their way through. As they attempted to pass me I nicely told them that there was no where to go. The man smiled, they backed off a bit, then tried again. And again. After the third time I'd had enough and just yelled "THERE'S NO WHERE TO GO - JUST WAIT!" He got the message even if he didn't understand the words, and backed off. And people all around smiled at me as a way of thanking me for getting this joker to back off!

Here's what we ran into at Epcot on New Year's Eve a few years ago. This was the line just to get into the line to get into Test Track. It probably wouldn't have been so bad for us but my daughter was only 2 at the time. So any wait felt like an eternity.

I'll start by saying I am not one to appreciate, tolerate or even feel comfortable in crowded conditions like these pictures so obviously I am biased but I just have to ask how in the world a person or family could feel they are getting their money's worth out of admission prices in conditions like this for a vacation? Each to their own I suppose, not my cup of tea.

I have been in MK on NYE and I have to assume that in one of the top 5 busiest days of the year. The park was closed to capacity by 11:00 and the only way we got in was a CM in the parking lot let us go "to the racetrack" and we were able to take the one shuttle that was operating. I don't remember much since it was back in 2009 but I do remember it was very crowded and people were pretty much shoulder to shoulder. This was my first WDW trip and I had zero clue how to navigate the parks so we didn't get to do much. I would avoid going back between Christmas and New Years but I think I could do a better job of planning this time around.

You can't get your monies worth when the crowds are like that... It is the reason that when we go we try to plan our trips to avoid those peak times. Once in a while we have poor planning and get a day that sucks like those... When it happens we usually hit a few of the less popular rides and call it a day by going somewhere else... but if you were doing one day ticket for $100 you would be royally ripped off. We generally do a multi day pass so we have usually gotten our per day cost down to the point that we don't need to ride a dozen rides to feel like we got our monies worth.

I'm at MK again today and it is just INSANE!
(These aren't the current wait times, just the posted times I saw earlier today.)
105 minutes for jungle cruise

120 for Splash mountain

105 for Peter Pan

220 for Mine train

120 for Space.

It's is very crowded at the moment
