What do you use? - External chargers in the parks

Haven't seen any updated threads on this, but wanted to get some suggestions from everyone. I know they offer the fuel rods in WDW -- has anyone ever used those? I have a Galaxy s8 and a small Anker external charger that's at least 3 years old. I tried using it recently and it didn't give my phone a full charge, so looking for other options. Ideally something small I can fit in a purse. Also, I know they have charging stations around -- are they often all in use?

That's what I was thinking would be so easy -- I'd never have to worry about charging it, or it losing its charge after one use. And you get to keep it at the end, right?

Yep, you keep it. Change out whenever battery is low, however many times you need a new one. I use my phone for a million photos, videos, and the Disney app.. no way it would last all day. The Fuel Rod was a life saver.

Sorry for all the questions -- what kind of phone do you have? and does it take long for a full charge? one of the more recent chargers I got (and one of my older ones) didn't fully charge my S8 so I was hoping for something that would give lots of power lol

I'm bringing along my camera, but figured I'd be on my phone quite a bit for the reasons you mentioned. And also figured I could swap this around with family members when we go so that we only need to bring one external charger!

The Jackery 6000mAh one. We have two. Both purchased on Amazon on sale...under 20$ a few years back.

So...one goes in backpack and will usually last a few days, then we put on a charge and use the other one for the next few days. Small enough to where phone AND Jackery fits in my pocked while connected.

I bought a new one earlier today. I honestly searched on Amazon and sorted by top reviews.

As to the fuel rods in park, @21stamps has used those.
Yup, same here. I found one for $20 off of Amazon a few years ago and it's still going strong.

You want one that says it holds more than one charge when it comes to the S8. My charger will charge my S8 2.5 times but said it charges an iPhone about 5 times. Price of having a powerful phone.

I haven’t been to the parks since 2017.. I get the newest iPhone every year.. battery is always good but not good enough to hold up with all of my photo/video taking and FB Live-ing. I definitely needed the recharge.

It would be perfect to share if you have multiple people in your party.

I use this one. Fits in the little pocket in my Vera Bradley crossbody bag I use in the parks. I can get two full charges out of it.

I use a phone that has a battery that lasts all day. Is this not normal?
My Galaxy can make it a pretty long time, but I like to read books and play games in line, so it needs a pick me up.

Now iPhone users on the other hand barely make it through lunch... 😜

Sorry, couldn't resist the dig at iPhones

I have a OnePlus. I just charge it overnight and i'm good all day. If i do need to charge it from non stop usage, i can charge it 50% in about 20 minutes.
I'm planning on using my phone in the parks for things like MDE and maybe posting some photos, and I don't want to have to sit somewhere (aside from meals) to charge it, so that's why I want the charger

I've had some problems with smaller battery chargers not being able to charge my newer phone, including those rapid rod style chargers. I could get them to charge if my phone was completely off and then they'd charge the phone but the smaller ones generally don't have the charging amperage to deal with newer smartphones.
Look for something that has a USB-C 3 amp output. It will recharge quickly and you know it will be compatible with a newer smartphone.

This is what I got. It will charge higher end tablets if needed. Downside its a bit heavier to carry in a pocket but I carried mine in a vest pocket so the weight wasn't an issue. I suspect a purse won't be much issue either.
