What do you think...Can this be done?

Ok... so we are scheduled to go on a 5 day cruise on the Wonder to Cozumel and Castaway Cay next April 13-18th. I know a long way off but I'm one of those OCD planners that plan everything to the inth degree several times before going places. I was wondering if it would be possible to get both myself and my son on this cruise with only packing 1 carry on each and our back packs/other personal bag. Do any of you think this could be done? Anyone have tips or ideas for making this work? Any and all thoughts welcome.

Absolutely I could, but I am pretty low maintenance, I don't wear makeup, or put products in my hair so that frees up a bit of space. And I can get by with one pair of flip flops. If you are planning on getting all gussied up for formal night that might take a big bite out of your available space though. But it really depends on you and your comfort level. And you can always do laundry on the ships too if you need to.

Have fun!

I'm pretty low maintenance as well and since it's going to be me and a 12yrs old boy... dressing up isn't going to happen. Unless it's dressing up for Pirate night.

We used the washer and dryer on the Dream but it seemed to take forever to get anything dry.

The line on our cruise for the washer and dryers was longer than a surprise visit from all 7 Dwarfs on debarkation morning. ;)
Ha ha! I had good luck with the laundry, it was almost directly across the hall so I was able to assess the situation and then jump on it immediately if a machine was open. As an aside I brought one of those giant ikea bags that fold up small, it was excellent for laundry.

It seems to be a universal truth that one washer load of laundry takes at least two dryer cycles to dry. The things come in pairs, why don't they function with equivalent efficiency?

Yeah, the dryers go longer than the washers by quite a bit. That puts the people who have clothes in the washers in a pinch when there are no dryers available. It didn't help any that a few machines were out of order. Not a glamorous item, but when the Magic is in drydock the laundry facilities need a little something.

We periodically will stratigically return to our stateroom via a route that takes us past one or more of the laundry facilities to check the status. If there's open machines we'll sprint to the room to grab our laundry.

And the giant Ikea bags are flippin' awesome! I pack them for any/all travel. They make great laundry bags and excellent beach totes. Don't have to worry about ruining a bag since they cost less than $2.

This is why you can only place one shirt, one pair of shorts, one set of socks, and one undergarment in there. If you do that, they will be dry by the time its done. Anything over that, and you will need a second cycle.
