Is it an attraction that is open daily to the general public? They should turn it into a Test Track style ride so you can experience what 200mph racing is like.
It is open on a daily basis to the general public. There is no way to make it a "normal ride" there is way to much that can happen in a race car causing injuries. It would not be able to accomodate many people either with the amount of time it takes to get all the safety equipment on and to educate people on safety issues. It would cost way to much to operate as well. Those cars are extremely expensive. You need specialy trained and experienced drivers and mechanics. Tires and gas arent cheap and have to be replaced frequently. It isnt in a park either so how would people pay to visit this attraction? If you have a valid park ticket?

I will never get over the loss of the 20K ride. I will never understand the destruction of established attractions that have of yet failed to forego relevance. Read Jules Verne today and I defy you to not find relevance in his work. I am all for updating an image, living on an all together higher level of abstraction than our forefathers. As much as I adored Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, I can see that it was not as popular as Winnie the Pooh. But I don't think I will ever feel that anything put in 20K's place will do it justice. How did the Swiss Family Treehouse survive where 20K could not? Perhaps, my vote for biggest waste of space is Swiss Family. Because, where this new fangled thing called technology is just a fad, being stranded on an island with pirates and ostriches and androgynous cabin boys is always at the forefront of possibilities.

Waste of space? The one on the left.
To replace it? Umm....today, my mind turns to the one on the right. (Or as much of it as would fit.)

Wow...i am stunned at the fact NO ONE has yet to mention the 'Graveyard' in front of Spaceship Earth!

Those 'Leave a Legacy' stones are a horrible eyesore IMO....move em' somehwhere else On Property to keep those who paid for a tile happy, and in doing so it will also make many OTHER people happy to see that space better used.

It will be a win-win situation.....
Agreed...I would love to see a "clean" entrance plaza.

For some reason that area has always felt reminiscent of the Planet of the Apes or some other dystopian future movie!
Right. And that fits EPCOT so well.:dazzle:

Waste of space? This here...

Win.

I'm going to say the Germany and Japan pavilion buildings. Both of these were meant to house attractions which were ditched due to budget reasons. They've got these 2 spaces which would add some much needed attraction to bring more guests to the back of the park.

Meet the World has closed - bring it to Epcot where it was supposed to be in the first place!

Put car on guided track. Car goes around track a few times at full speed. Car stops, end of ride. You could even make it a coaster track with a fake car body.

So how does that work? You just pay a ticket price then go as fast as you dare with no training? Is it a stock car?
Can I just pull the Sebring out there and see what she can do?
Yes you pay a ticket price and go as fast as you dare. Yes it is a stock car. You get great training from professional drivers. You wear the exact safety equipment and drive the exact cars that Nascar drivers use every week. Maybe you would know that if you did a lttle research. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_World_Speedway. Check that link out if you would like to know a little something about the subject you seem to be an expert in.

Wow, that was uncalled for. Beyond that I sure didn't see anywhere in this thread where he claimed to be an expert about the situation.

I agree. Disney has proven that they can improve on established stories already - look at the Haunted Mansion. I think they've added some good elements to it. Why couldn't they do that with 20K? I hear a lot of people still talk about that while in the park.

I bow humbly before the giant geodesic sphere of knowledge.

I never claimed to be an expert, I simply asked questions. There seems to be a lot of hatin' on these boards lately.

Just a little info, I know exactly what the driving school involves. My dad has done this before at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. That post just shows your lovely attitude. Hope I don't get stuck with you in a line.

I can't imagine what else you could put in that space infront of SSE.
Anyway, MY votes are either where 20k used to be and Toontown fair. I mean, after seeing Disneyland's Toontown and getting a good idea was a DECENT Toontown could be, I think WDW's is a incredible waste of space. It's less of a Toontown and more of a Toon STREET!

You could put a really nice fountain that has these huge rainbow generating pyramids. Depending on the time of day these pyramids would blast rainbows all over the place... Ohhhh Um... wait....

Why did they get rid of the fountain infront of SSE? anyway?
