What do you miss?

I’m sure this has been done before, but here I go.

What things from WDW past do you miss most?

Here are a few of mine:

1) I miss when the Haunted Mansion graveyard was scary. They use to have small skulls that popped up FAST and screeched. You could hear people screaming throughout the ride. The slow bodies just don’t do it.
2) I miss the old monorails
3) I miss looking to see who’s name was on my car when I rode Mr. Toad
4) I miss wondering what the person looked like who’s legs you could see driving the Nautilus
5) I miss the Mickey Mouse Review
6) I miss when the Crystal Palace was not character meals only
7) I miss when Main Street was not just one big store – long for the Penny Arcade

I know there are others but that is a good start.

What do you miss?

I agree with the Mr Toad car names...that was so exciting!!

I miss the Main Street Flower Market (that Disney still asvertises with postcards featuring Minnie and Mickey and the flowers).

I also miss the convenience of finding foot long hotdogs.

I also miss when everything was "basic" and not so character driven and commercialized. For example, the older Resort logos and shirts for Caribbean Beach, that were really Caribbean esque, were much netter than the current ones with characters dressed everywhere in tropical garb.

Speaking of the characters...

I miss when it was just the basics, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, etc. Now you go through and their are characters from every Disney movie. I don't know why I have a problem with that but I do.

I miss the Penny Acarde, the Magic Shop, and the Movie theater. I also miss the skyway. All I could think of right now.

I miss the wide open spaces! You would arrive at Epcot, and there were flower beds and a fountain, with SE looming in the background, and futuristic music playing. It really set the mood for the rest of the day.

The same with WS. You could see all of the pavilions in the distance. Now you just see a gift shop, with the tops of buildings peeking over them.

I miss Mickey and Goofy dressed like Space travelers in Future World.

I miss that song "Listen To The Land" in The Land Pavillion.

I miss the view as you enter EPCOT...before the Leave a Leagacy Tombstones were there.

But most of all..I miss my children being young and innocent, when their eyes got as big as saucers when they first saw Mickey Mouse, when cotton candy was like magic and when they weren't embarrased to ride Small World. <sigh>

Thank God I'M still a child :D

As weird as this may sound, I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I never even rode it! Growing up, my mom would always tell me about that ride and how much fun they had on it and I always looked forward to the day when I would be able to experience it too. Although, my first trip to WDW was a little too late.:brick:

I agree with many of the responses. Sometimes less is more, meaning things that take away from a view.

As goofy as Mr. Toad was, I loved it. I loved the cars, the train wreck and when Mr. Toad goes to hell. Fun time.

I miss If You Had Wings very much. At one time when there were tickets for each ride I think that If You Had Wings and The Wedway People Mover (now TTA) were the only free rides.

And the song for it was very catchy and well written.;-)

If you had wings, if you had wings, if you had wings, if you had wings.....

I miss how the characters used to be just walking around meeting kids and parents. Now, everytime you want to see a character you have to wait in these really long, regimented lines. I know they do it so that everyone has a chance to see the characters...but the other way seemed so much more carefree and whimsical.

Even though I love Mission: Space, I really miss Horizons.
