What do they look for in an Imagineer?

 Had that epiphany tooo! Still in my sights but im glad with what ive chose.
Ive also found out that disney contracts out alot of the architects and engineers as well now, so many of the workers arent exactly Imagineers.

Yup, I actually interviewed with the company that designed and built the Mission:Space simulators last year.

Curious what is your major?

Mechanical Engineering.

Nice!!!, thats awsome

And cool cool, started off with civil engineering but changed to Architecture through my years.

Much like you I realized that I should find a sustainable job, and then work for a while and see if the prospect to possibly work for Disney comes true. Seeing that the works contracted out more frequently its almost luck now.

where did you go to school?

thats cool. im studying for my b.arch at pratt institute in brooklyn. what firm are you working for?

Nice!, I looked into pratt as well, but i wanted to get away from New York :ROFLOL:, and its a great school. And I work "upstate" in a firm. I put upstate in quotes becuase even though im 90 miles from the city. People there consider me upstate even though there is a whole state above me. But you probably know that.

I was, yes.

At this point, unless I got a job with them right out of college(unlikely), I doubt I'll pursue it. You can usually only work for WDI for one project, and then you get the curb. I'd rather have a stable job than do that.

Yes, I was like you as well. My plan now is to get rich with my own business ventures, then sponsor a theme park attraction or attraction(s) and tell them to build it the way I tell them to :drevil:

Hmm. So there are lots of people who actually become Imagineers and then go back into their own worlds. But some of them must have to move on.

I am going to make an guess here.

But if Imagineering is anything like engineering in most places I have worked, you need to have a solid base in business finance. The ability to estimates costs, budget, and plan is important.

Of course design and the ability to go outside the nine dots is important too, but project management and budget skills are also critical to being any sort of lead on a project.

Someone who can keep a park real and keep a ride original while keeping the ride fresh and changing things little by little. I have to say all the other parks are good but Future World is having a dry spell.
