what do mousekeepers get paid?

My wife does stained glass work so we always take along several items she has made. Last year we left Stained Glass Angels and the Mousekeepers were figting over who got to clean our room! I would suggest that instead of money, you bring some type of unique items from where you live, they always seem to be appreciated.

just because they aren't supposed to accept it doesn't mean they don't ;)

is it possible that disney management might "plant" tip money in rooms to see if the mousekeepers would turn it in or not?

doubt it...

if that happened, management would more than likely find itself in major doodoo with the union.

not to mention, that would involve Disney parting with money first... even IF it's only temporary

Mousekeeping is one of the higher paid starting rates. They don't make as much as bus drivers, but they make more than attractions, monorails, or custodial. It is however, an untipped position. So if you do leave them tips, they are supposed to turn them into their management team, who will then donate the money to a charity.

When I worked for USPS as a letter carrier, we too could not accept cash tips, but we could accept candy, cookies, lotions, liqour ...nothing like a mailman driving around w/ half a bottle of jack in him/her :) anyway, I was wondering if we leave goodies for our mousekeepers can they keep them w/o getting into trouble? I thinking along the lines of Bath & Body Works foot lotions, antibacterial lotions etc...,

actually, I wouldn't be surprised, postal inspectors can leave money inside collection boxes if they suspect the carrier is stealing from the mail.

I think it's incredibly stupid that they have to turn over tips. Especially when they're being tipped for going above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay a "magical" one. Something that many have written about.

I'll spend my money as I see fit and I'm still tipping and I'm going to leave an extra note INSISTING that they take it!! Take that Disney Management!! Pffffffffftttttttttt:mad:

I'm just going to presume that "Mousekeepers can't keep tips" is complete BS untill someone cites a source. There isn't a maid in the country who doesn't get tipped.

If it indeed goes to a charity, I'd like to know before I go in June, and if so, which one - because that really makes a difference to me. If I don't find out on here, I guess I'll ask the front desk to verify. That's just stupid.

they do keep their tips:rolleyes: There is an admendment in their contract so they can keep the money. Now of course if you front desk/guest services/concierge you can be terminated for not turning in a tip.

Be sure to tip your Mousekeepers each day, not a lump sum at the end of your stay, because it might not be the same person that cleans every day.:animwink:
