Just wondering because they do such a wonderful job. I was thinking that they might not get paid that much and do a good job so that they get good tips. any mousekeepers here on the boards that might be able to give some input?

I have no idea what they get, but I'm sure it's not enough. They push their cart around in 95 degree weather all day, and do a damn good job of cleaning the rooms, well, at least at Dixie Landings!

I leave a few bucks each day for tip, gradually increasing each day. I'll put down a few bills, then pile on any coins we had left from the day before, which really add up after all the snacks and lunches!

I love it when thry decorate your window with any stuffed toys/reg toys you have in the room. This has happened to me in the past, and my son loves it. We tip really good when they di that; knowing that they are just playing around. They also always do a bang up job keeping the room clean. And it is always great when they leave something extra in the room (sundries). I mean that 1 little bottle of shampoo isn't enough for 4 people.

We left a pretty nice tip one time and when we got back to the hotel that night we had what seemed like 50 towels!!!! We literally had twice as many bath towels as we needed. They were EVERYWHERE!

I guess since my brother and I don't take stuffed animals, they just give us more towels.....it's the thought that counts! :sohappy:

I always try to leave at least $3 a day for my son and I. Then the last day I leave $5 or more...they really do a great job at keeping our room clean and tidy for us while we are there!!!!!:)

Mousekeeping is one of the higher paid starting rates. They don't make as much as bus drivers, but they make more than attractions, monorails, or custodial. It is however, an untipped position. So if you do leave them tips, they are supposed to turn them into their management team, who will then donate the money to a charity.

Really? That's crazy. I had figured that their base rate would have been pretty low, but with tips they'd make out pretty well - sort of like waiters/waitresses. We've always left a couple or three bucks a night for the two of us, and like the other posters, often get special "treats" such as the cool creations they make by folding washcloths & towels into objects - my favorite being a HUGE elephant made with a bed pillow, some towels and washcloths.

It's hard for me to be mad that this tip money may go to charity since It goes to a good cause - and I'm sure not all of my tip money makes it to management ;) - but it does kinda cheeze me off that the money I intend to thank my mousekeepers with doesn't always go where I think it did.

they don't get paid nearly enough..

LOL I never hear people say that they make too much! You can tell if people are getting paid enough if they are able to fill the posions when people leave. If they arent paying enough then they will constantly loose workes and will be unable to replace the, BUT if they are getting paid enough then there will be another person waiting to be hired.

I dont think I ever left them a tip actually. I usually tip very well I just never thought about tipping them....hmmm.....

I'm sure that every mousekeeper is such a good person that they all do it.

I was going to say the same thing. No matter how neat I try to keep our room there are days when I know they earn their money. We always request extra toiletries & towels and they magically appear. I love the towel animals & how the arrange toys/ dolls left in the room. Last time they had all the dolls/stuffed animals watching the tv on one bed and Tigger filling out an application for a Disney Visa on the other.

We always leave a tip, its just a polite way to say "thanks for all your hard work". Thanking them in person goes a long way too.
Giving to charity is a good thing, but I don't think anyone should be able to tell me I can't give a tip to a service person, that should be my decision.

That is so funny! I have never stayed at a Disney hotel, but some of these comments are making me think it's worth the expense!

Though I'm just a little biased towards all things Disney ( ) you really should try it at least once if you can swing it. There is something about being in the magic 24hrs/day.......
