What deluxe resort to stay at?

The last two trips we stayed at The Wilderness Lodge. My wife wants to try a different resort. So what resort should we stay at? The Grand Floridian is not an option. Looks to much like my grandmas house. Thanks everyone

We have never stayed at a Deluxe before but will be staying at Wilderness Lodge next trip. How was it? Cost rather than looks keeps me out of the GF.

I’m not the op, but we were “forced” to stay at WL last year.. had to switch dates a month and a half before my trip, couldn’t get all nights at GF, so had to do the final 3 at WL. I wasn’t thrilled at the prospect at first.. ended up LOVING it! Definitely recommend.

After you decide what you can or want to spend on the resort, the decision is next based on location. It really depends on what you want to be close to, in my opinion. If you want to stay closer to Epcot and be able to walk home or take the boat home, look at Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan or Dolphin. If you want to be close to MK and take the monorail, look at Contemporary or Poly. And you can walk to and from Contemporary too. There’s also AKL which is beautiful with great dining.

I have to say, it is pretty amazing to be able to walk home considering how daunting getting to and from resorts to parks can be. No fussing about waiting for a bus or parking or worrying about missing stuff. You just go!

Happy choosing!

It's the best. I love it. An overwelhming sense of awe occurs upon entering the main lobby, then all the additional fantastic discoveries that wait, truly magical.

We just returned from a stay at the YC, and were very pleased. Over the years, I've stayed at all of the MK resorts save the WL, which we will actually be staying at in Feb. The only thing I'll say is that at the YC/BC, I did not feel as deeply immersed in the "bubble" as with the MK resorts. It's a very different experience IMO, but a good one nonetheless. Nothing quite like staying on Bay Lake/7 Seas.

So if Im staying at the beach club I could walk or boat to Epcot? If Im staying at the beach club would it make sense to walk to Hollywood studios? Transportation to MK and AK would be by bus or Monorail via the Transportation center.

Yes. It's a 5 minute walk to Epcot, 10 if you walk very slowly! But you can get the boat, after walking out to the lighthouse to wait for it (by which time you can be inside the park)! Boat to DHS is more worth it, unless you like a longer walk (20/25 minutes).

To use the monorail to MK you will need a park hopper to be able to walk through Epcot to the monorail. No sidewalks on the road to Epcot front gate. We usually just get the bus.

Coming back by bus though from AK or MK you can get a bus to any of the Boardwalk resorts, whichever comes first, if you don't mind a short walk from either BWI or Swan/Dolphin.

IMO it's almost never worth it to boat to Epcot from Beach Club.

As for Hollywood studios, it depends. If you just miss the boat, start walking by Yacht Club towards the Swan and Dolphin and you can get on there. Often we'll beat the boats walking no matter what. If it's super hot and sunny out the boats at least will offer shade. There isn't much shade on the path.

The buses from Y&BC go directly to MK and AK, not the TTC. If you want the monorail to ride on, you'd have to do that separately. Take a ride from Epcot, or take a break from MK and do a loop. Park hop that way from those two if you can.

I second or third Boardwalk Inn. I enjoyed being close to the back of Epcot and HS. After WL, my favorite deluxe is AKL, though it is a bit far away from everything but AK. I'd like to try Beach Club at some point, that looks pretty nice and with a great location.
