What could be done to help improve Space Mountain?

Surely, we all have to agree that Space Mountain seems a little .... dated compared to it's Disneyland version.

Though, a lengthy refurbishment just may be what Space Mountain needs, that could also endanger the pure classic appeal of the attraction. So, if you had to pick something, or a few things, that could be done to improve Space Mountain, what would you do?

Personally, I would first get rid of those unrealistic astronauts on the lift-hill.. :ROFLOL:

I like Space Mountain and think it is fine the way it is.

Never been to Disneyland, though.

Space as is is already the greatest ride in this galaxy.

Perhaps they could consider smoothing out the rough edges. (Like they were suppossed to do last refurb before the budget was scaled back)
It's not for me, but for all you wusse...erm....old peo...erm, I mean people who prefer smoothness.

BTW - if you think WDW is rough, try the all new SM in Paris! Guaranteed a brain concussion, bruised elbows and broken ribs.

It could be worse. They could have no suit on and be wearing Mickey and Minnie costumes. :ROFLOL:
But, in all fairness, I believe the TTA in there has to be fixed, (Mr. Disney, Tear down this wall!! I'm sorry, I couldn't help it...) the ride has to have a more realistic post-show, and the outdoors area could use a bit of paint.

Real AAs and not static figures
Track replacement with more banked turns
On-board audio
New outdoor lighting
New, quietter chain-lift (like Everest)

Yeah, Space Mountain is already the best galactic adventure out there! Just so,e things need to be improved upon..

I have to agree with the better post-show and when you depart from your rocket... Something about cheesy, 70's carpet does not set the mood for intergalactic space flight... :p

I like what they did to it. Of course we can always nit pick at what could have been done during its recent refurb but im satisfied. However, I wish they would have kept those neat lights that would light up the outside at night. I never saw it in person but saw them in one of martins videos.

Personally I would turn the lights on and slow it down. I've never been on it as I don't do coasters! :hurl: especially dark ones!!!

A reason why I think WDWs Space Mountain shoud remain how it is (no stuff like disneyland has) is because it is the 1st of the Space Mountains, and it has been thrilling guest for nearly 40years just how it is.

Yes, it is my favorite version by far! I just feel like some things should be changed or updated...

I'll give you the departure. Not exactly cheesy to me, but so boring. They could put something in there!

Relocating it to my backyard would be, in my opinion, a vast improvement to its current location way down there in Florida.:ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

If it wasn't in the dark, I'd probably be scared to go on it. I love it in the dark and same with Rock N Roll rollercoaster.

love it the way it is. Do they still have the TV monitors showing the space news reports? Last time I went on it I pretty much walked right on so I didn't look...

Open the roof, show me the flying "rockets" with neon. Show me Space Mountain from TTA, and it's back at 100% for me.

But, there's not a thing wrong with it currently.

I agree with the first part. To me that is the one thing that is wrong with the current version if anything. I like what they enhanced and cleaned, but not what they took away.

To me The switchbacks are boring without seeing the glowing stripes going and streaking by. The People Mover also has lost the interior of Space Mountain Charm for me as you can't really even get an idea of what you are looking at. It literally feels like a minute in the dark with some projections whizzing by one small bit.

As for the Sci Fi themed faux ads on the monitors in the queue. Those have been gone for a very long time. I knew I would not miss them when they did leave, but now that we are lacking the open roof with tons of switchbacks used now instead of the long corridor. It seems like entertainment is needed. I would rather wait in a straight line that is always moving passed different windows vs many switchbacks that are often deceiving to how long you really have to wait.

Using that back hallway full time is probably the only thing I really don't like about the new load area. I prefer the enclosed ceiling and the new overall look. I love that because of it the mountain is truly dark inside which greatly enhances the ride.

The only other thing I would hope for is getting a silent lift hill someday.

I miss that.
