What attractions are still like they were on day 1?

Trends are just that. They go in cycles and eventually come back full circle.

So whether WDW is/was ahead of the game or was/is extremely behind is the only question. :lookaroun

They're behind. Way behind. Trust me, I do this for a living, and I get all of the trendy magazines. :animwink:

The new Epcot pavilion logos (for the Land and the Seas) are barely superior to what anyone can do with Microsoft Word. I fail to see how the old icons were remotely outdated.

Nice logos. But where's the Wonders of Life logo? (Yes, it had a logo. Not a very widely used one, but it had one)

Maybe the circle will come back around soon, as we all know nothing at WDW is permanent unless it deemed to be temporary  !!

I swear, if nothing else were done for Epcot's 25th, a return of a brand new logo set would be wonderful. It just makes so much sense from a marketing standpoint. I would take that (dare I say it) over wand removal.

Sadly, the perspex pannels were sold at Mouse Surplus. The whole structure went for the graveyard look.

In their defense, the fountain - oh what is it called? - base thingy (where the water pools) was painted a light or pale blue like the supports of SSE originally.

Then instead of the brown rocks-blocks to cascade over, the water flowed over a big black slick surface. Then it had the pannels sticking out of it. It honestly looked odd.

It they could have combined the two concepts.. that would of been nice. Right now it feels like it's missing something from the middle - some height, before it felt like it was misconstructed with the black-sheet surface.

Maybe you, Marni1971, and I could stand in the middle of the platform with our hands held high.

Maybe not.

I actually think if we sculpted in a nice bronze or aluminum but with a elongated trunk and features in a stylized manner and possibly holding orbs which lit up and symbolized world unity and the forward movement of humanity we'd be quite stunning.

But only if we wear matching red, sparkly, polyester pants that match the wand.

And we have to sing, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." (Hey, Club Cool serves free Cokes.)

Only when the budget allows it. Sometimes, the money used to keep our platform rotating will be allocated to the jumping Brer Rabbit AA in Splash Mountain.

Aww.. but I never even go on that ride. Can't we just take the platform from El Rio del Tiempo when they throw it out backstage at Epcot? I'm sure it'll end up on Woodpecker lane like the WoM cars and no one will notice (or care).

I`m in. Merf?

Stand where it used to be, make a sculpture shape, shine coloured lights at each other, sing "We've Just Begun to Dream" and promptly be kicked out of the park :D

the facades of liberty square, the liberty bell, and tree very much the same from 1971.

According to the Plaque in front of the Liberty Bell, it was cast for WDW in 1989. I read it a few days ago, before I went to rope drop at the Liberty Square bridge. :p It's also a second generation to the original in Philadelphia.

I found this in an old Epcot Center guide map from roughly 1990. It describes the epcot logo and what it means.

Great picture! I've never seen this before. Disney should still print Epcot's purpose in the maps so that Guests would stop complaining that they don't understand the park.

And Marni, maybe one day we'll do it, but only when I don't work for the Walt Disney Company anymore.

You never ride Splash Mountain?!

Blasphemy! :D

All right, I guess we can take the rotating platform out of El Rio del Tiempo; but I insist on keeping the Christmas lights.
