What attraction would you green light if you were CEO?

I was actually talking to my friend about this the other day and he told me "Dude, if you were CEO, they'd try to overthrow you". The obvious thing to green light is Beastly Kingdom, that is exactly what AK needs. Also I would get everything working again in Dinosaur and EE. At DHS I would go forward with my own idea to close down Backlot Tour and use that large area to build a small Phineas and Ferb themed area complete with an actual Slushy Burger CSR, 4D attraction with 5 randomly selected shows, and the actual roller coaster from their pilot episode but build it as an indoor/outdoor attraction with two different coasters, one for families and one for die hard coaster fans complete with on-ride audio featuring the "roller coaster" song from their musical episode. For those who want to know more about that actual song here is a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjZ_Ueq15_k&playnext=1&list=PL431B55C3CB402423 Also, have the coaster tied into the song, for example when Phineas says "Scream if you want more" send the car into a corkscrew loop. In addition at DHS I would update GMR and close the Indy stunt show to install a small Star Wars area. Over at Epcot I would build a new country in the outpost area and re-open WoL with a new theme. At MK I wouldn't do much, if anything I would try to keep it as it is and keep everything up to date with yearly refurbs.

Repopulate WoL with something. I don't know if they have plans for it but I'd fill it with something related to math/computation/engineering. Building an attraction to match that theme would be a return to the 80s FW vision.

Now that I'm thinking, I wouldn't re-do Wonders of Life, and I don't really want a Tron attraction in Tomorrowland. A computer pavilion with a Tron theme throughout would be excellent. I don't know exactly what to put inside for attractions, but I'd imagine that they could probably use the building to get a light cycle/light jet attraction as well as something that has to do with actual computers. This way, it's the best of everything. While medicine is very important, it's kind of difficult to theme a pavilion around without making the atmosphere feel like a hospital (the carnival theme is really... bad). Medicine also seems like it might fit better on the opposite side of Future World, seeing as agriculture is technology, but it is on the nature side. Computers do age quickly, but the headliner attraction would be timeless. Tomorrowland's identity crisis would also be prevented from worsening.

Wow. I wrote way too much. XD If I were CEO, I would add this in the late stages of expansion. I see Imagination and a completion of SSE's refurbishment as the two biggest goals for Epcot, and with those two major changes, Epcot should be fine for a while. A couple C-Tickets in World Showcase would be nice as well.

Well, not the worst blight. I think that distinction might have to go to Journey into Narnia. Seriously.

2. Repair the Yeti, whatever it takes.

:sohappy: I'll take that.

I have to say, I think my top priority (if they ever let a yeti run the company) would be a major overhaul of DHS, piece by piece, giving it the consistent theme that's been lost and either restoring working production facilities (giving the idea of "backstage" some real meaning) or else dropping "studios" from the name entirely and turning it into "Disney's Hollywood" - with clear, consistent theming across the board. I don't buy the "different studios are lands" theme they seem to be inching towards with Pixar Place.

Anyway.

My other top priority would be bringing back Imagination with a truly spectacular dark ride, something that would be not only a worthy successor to, but even an improvement over, the much beloved original attraction.

Of course, the suits would say, "That makes no sense. Epcot is doing fine without a decent Imagination pavilion; why put money there?" Because, frankly, Imagination has the potential to make or break the idea that Disney is a brand name that stands for magic, imagination, and innovation. When the one attraction in all of Disney's parks that is dedicated to imagination is a cheesy, cookie-cutter piece of, um, something, it might not stop people from going to Epcot, but it sure does speak volumes about the company's trajectory.

Realistically, let's say I have 5 years and 1 billion dollars for those 5 years on additions/rehabs. I'm not sure if that is really that realistic or not, but I figured it made me think more realistically with money and time. I am also thinking with all that 1 billion dollars is doing to California Adventure. This is also not in any order.

Magic Kingdom
-Audio-animatronic & sound enhancement to Country Bear Jamboree
-Jungle Cruise refurbishment (similar to Disneyland's)
-Upgrade Tomorrowland lighting packages with LEDs. (Replacing neon in some cases)

Epcot
-Journey into Imagination Overhaul: new film and new/updated ride. This is similar to The Land's refurbishment.

Disney's Hollywood Studios
-Fantasmic showing 6 nights (2 each night) a week during peak seasons, 4 nights a week during off season (2 each night)
-New parade
-Move Jedi Training Academy into Sounds Dangerous
-Retheme Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playset to a bug's life & gift shop across from it becomes Buy N Large
-Add Marvel meet & greet / mini show on Streets of America (maybe in Premier Theater)

Disney's Animal Kingdom
-Transform Camp Minnie-Mickey into South America expansion featuring an animal walking trail, a water ride (think Splash Mt.), a family roller coaster, and a few shops, and restaurants. This will also include the addition of an new African theater for FotLK to be moved to.

All these are with all current projects finished including: Fantasyland Expansion, Art of Animation Resort, Hyperion Wharf, Star Tours 2, etc. I think my list is far from perfect, but if I was given 5 years and a decent budget, I think it is respectable and possible. Other ideas I thought of but with time and money restraints I held off were: work with Cirque on a new show at Downtown Disney, Pixar Place Expansion (more that what I mentioned), transformation of Backlot Express restaurant into Star Wars Cantina, complete overhaul/upgrade of Carousel of Progress, new monorail fleet looking as sleek as Disneyland's, Fantasmic 2.0, new parade for Animal Kingdom, Woody's Roundup at Diamond Horseshoe Saloon, removal of Leave a Legacy, removal of the Hat, removal of Innoventions central plaza clutter, and Great Movie Ride overhaul.

Radiator Springs and Minnie cupcakes

I think they should transform the raceway at MK into Radiator Springs...with all the cars that you drive being characters from the movie and at night the town would light up like in the movie !

Also, I think they should have a very "Minnie" bakeshop where you can buy cookies and cupcakes. I think they should sell: aprons, cookie cutters, minnie muffin pans...(I have one that they use to sell) waffle irons with Minnie Mouse !
LOVE Minnie Mouse! They could make the shop along the same lines as her house (that they are going to tear down :( .....only smaller scale.

While I agree with you, Disney has made it pretty clear that they look at HP as pretty much a one-trick pony that will sizzle out. While I would like to see them response in some huge way like you - I can't argue that it makes good business sense to wait and see what happens with it in the next couple years. So far we are only looking the results of the first quarter, right? Will be interesting to see....

Well uni was able to reverse 2 years worth of declines in 2 quarters, disney needs to recognize that. The time to sit back is over, Disney doesn't need to spend $400 million to counter IOA's attendance increase but it can't get away with some nip and tucks and princessland. Disney should be making yearly additions here and there so when a competitor spends 4 or 5 years worth of ride construction on one ride and a retheme of another two, it doesn't hit them as bad and they can counter.

Australia in Epcot

Russia in Epcot

Put a ride in Germany/Epcot

Upgrade the movie in France/Epcot (it's old)

Monsters Inc. coaster

Some type of Pirates movie franchise land (they could really do something with this)

Upgrade the backlot tour or get rid of it entirely and put something worthwhile there - perhaps a Pirate Land or Cars Land :)

Rip down Swiss Family treehouse and put in an attraction

Replace the Beauty and the Beast Show

Replace Indy Show

Get the resort specific merchandise back

Put Main Street in MK back to 1987 - enough with the Princess junk

Get rid of deep discounts and revamp pricing structure so Deluxe resorts actually offer DELUXE service

Get rid of free dining

Get rid of 180 adr's

Have one resort where there is a child free pool/area

Enough with the junk gift shops - bring back unique merchandising

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Replace upper level management (ie. Iger and Crofton) - they stink

I don't ask for much. :p

I agree with the additions of the countries to WS, France needing an update and Germany finally getting the Rhine River Ride. I also want the ride for Mexico to be changed, it just looks like they spent $100k and let some visiting potential CPs do everything.

B&B and its theater needs to go, the idea of having the same show for the last 20 years works for Mousetrap but not so much for a shortened play based on a movie. Having a play based on the current disney animation movie isn't a bad attraction, but it has to be updated. Also that space can bring in extra revenue by having nightly shows that will appeal to an adult audience. A dinner show would work at wdw and enjoyable while the building would be able to get turned over quickly. I was thinking that using the exterior of the fictitious show studio 60 as what would fit into the theme of sunset blvd because that is where it was suppose to be.

I agree with the backlot tour, really it should just be removed because just having the canyon explosion and the boneyard is just sad for the tram portion. Villians hall should stay, the pearl harbor set needs to be updated or changed.

I really don't want to see a Carsland that is just going to be a DL clone. The Indy Show needs to be updated, it doesn't need to be removed.

A direct piratesland would be overkill but something themed close to it would work. If there was a second entrance to MK, I was thinking that this new entrance would be harbor themed.

1. Fix JII. This is the worst blight on WDW IMO. This includes remaking the abandoned post-show area. (We used to spend a half day in JII alone, back in the 80s.)

Well, not the worst blight. I think that distinction might have to go to Journey into Narnia. Seriously.

Narnia could be the worst attraction, I give you that. But JII is much more horrible because it used to be great. Now it stands as a monument to neglect and poor leadership. That's why it's actually IMO the worst of WDW.

My other top priority would be bringing back Imagination with a truly spectacular dark ride, something that would be not only a worthy successor to, but even an improvement over, the much beloved original attraction.

From a practical standpoint, if there was lots to do at JII, like there used to be, more guests might start spending the whole day at FW, treating it as a full-day park in itself. If WoL were reopened in some form I think that would seal the deal.

(Part 2 of this blue-sky daydreaming is to add rides to Germany and Japan. In that case more and more guests would treat Epcot as two full-day parks.)

Like ST:Exp, but beyond what was offered. There would be recreations of all of the bridges that would be slightly larger to accommodate 20 to 25 guests for a simulator ride that allows guests to experience some of the biggest battles for each ship. There would also be a ride that will be based on the first flight of the phoenix. Adding to that would be ten forward and the deep space nine promenade. This attraction would be a Starfleet Academy recruiting center that would look similar to the one in San Fran.

This is a great idea. I'm more of a Star Trek fan than Star Wars so I'd have to go with this one.

Assuming the rumored Pixar expansion at DHS is taking place, hopefully filling out that park, I'd look at AK.

Perhaps pull together Fantasia 2000 and one of AK's early icon designs for a family thrill-based Noah's Ark attraction. A great chance to show off animals that don't fit into any currently themed lands (Pandas, Aussie animals, etc) in nearby animal settlements/the queue.
Or continue dispersing Beastly Kingdomme throughout the park and find a place for a Loch Ness adventure. Less of a place for live animals there, though.

Of course, the nerd in me would just prefer to see Stark Enterprises sponsor a pavilion in Epcot either taking over WoL or Universe of Energy or combining the two into a superpavilion with a ride through Stark's testing facility for new energy sources which, inevitably, would cause us poor park guests to become victims of a robbery attempt by Ultron or the Mandarin and force us to help Iron Man fight the baddies.
Well, I'd be first in line.

Thanks, I know that there is a level that was set with st:exp, I think that this idea will surpass that. Also, each ship's bridge can have a different sequence programmed in after awhile.

I'd love to see Beastly Kingdom...But for where Expedition Everest now, they couldn't move it. A yeti=legendary!! And Beastly Kingdom was set to be placed where Camp Minnie-Mickey is now, so where what would they do a/b EE..

Austrailia in AK would be AWESOME!!!

Well, it seems as if this thread has turned into a list of dreams... so I might as well add mine.

I like a lot of the same things you all want...

AK ~ Bring in a panda! I know they're expensive but can you imagine the merch sales from a new panda exhibit!?!
Move FOTLK to Africia (I have no idea where and if there's any space for this?). And then do something with Camp Minnie Mickey! I would like to see a classic dark ride of some sort!

DHS ~ Greenlight that Monsters Inc. coaster/ride and add a new restaurant to Pixar Place (Ratatouille themed preferably).
DHS also needs a new CS or revamp the menus at the current CS locations b/c it's bad!!!
Reimagine a new Toontown/Classic Cartoons area over in Animation Courtyard (again, I have no idea if there's room for this?).
Pull out Sounds Dangerous and put in a 3D/4D Phineas and Ferb movie!

Epcot ~ I don't think we need a new country. I would be much happier if an existing country got a nice attraction/ride.
Redo JII... the whole thing!!!
New Soarin' video that fits into the Land's theme!

MK ~ I'm ok with this park the way it is (and the way it will be) for the most part!
SGE could do with a replacement!
And Tomorrowland Speedway could do with a better theme!
Bring the Fairies back to MK and give them a nice M&G/Pixie Hollow type area like they have in DL complete with the little garden light show!
