Not all clowns are fun and games. Click here to say hello to Pennywise!

Munsters? They're not known attacking people in their sleep. These people are more of a comedy team from the 1960's. Monsters are the ones who hide under people's beds and wait until darkness until they strike. Same thing is true for the ones in your closet.

As for my fears, I'm afraid of real life monsters. The people who break into houses at night with intent to inflict serious damage to family members and property. These monsters can only be scared away by the sounds of a shotgun (a .357 Magnum also works well) being loaded, and/or by the presence of a large, growling, and generally unhappy dog.

I think this is everyone's fear. When I first started nursing school I took care of a 100 y/o woman. She was so charming and I spent hours talking to her. This was her greatest fear as she had outlived everyone. She was my only patient for 6 weeks (2 days/week). I cried when she passed...and she was not alone.

I'm loaded with fears.

Not really, but I do have a few.

1. I'm afraid of heights, but can tolerate them if I'm sitting. I can't even stand on a step stool unless I have something to hang onto. I can ride a ski lift (but am still nervous), and am OK if I don't have to ski straight down a hill. Because of this, I prefer narrow, twisty runs with lots of trees...where people are more likely to get killed. The only time I hurt myself, I was on a wide open run. It made it much easier for the ski patrol to find me. I also almost fainted once when I walked into a ladies' room in a restaurant that was on top of a high rise in Atlanta. There was a floor to ceiling window running the length of the room! I had to hang on to the stalls and look away from the window in order to use the facilities.

2. Quicksand. When I was a child, I had a recurring dream about running into a glade with a pond and water tower nearby. When I was around 12, I actually "found" it, and was terrified. When I told my mother about it, she told me never to go there again, as there was quicksand in the pond.

3. I've also had a recurring nightmare about an elevator that starts going horizontally in addition to vertically. I'm not afarid of elevators, (because I can't SEE that I'm high; glass elevators are a no-no, though!) but refuse to ride ToT.

I have lizards and frogs, so have to handle worms and crickets all of the time. I don't LIKE spiders or most snakes, but I'm not afraid of them...except for the poisonous ones. The same with turtles. I love them, but not the alligator snapper that lives near me. I'm also not crazy about lizards that are poisonous or are large enough to hurt me. I think Komodos are great, but only from a distance. ;)

I forgot about scorpions! Those I hate; I found a couple of dead ones when I redid my daughter's room a few years ago, and I freaked! I hated knowing that they had been crawling around inside the house!

I have lots of fears (or hang~ups as someone who USED to be close to me called them  )

~Claustrophobia: Didnt know I had this till I had to crawl into a small tunnel at the Childrens Zoo with my twin nieces to get to the darn prairie dogs...I started to hyperventilate and see spots in front of my eyes. Yeah...grabbed them and high tailed it on outta there :hammer:

~Bugs: You name it and odds are I hate it. I redid my bedroom two years ago, and in the room is the door to the attic crawlspace (its a Cape Cod style house). Well, I must have somehow disturbed a spiders nest, because I had dozens upon dozens of baby spiders crawling along my walls day and night for about a week. I was constantly going after them to the point where my family was calling me the Spider Hunter :lookaroun

~Needles: Add me to the list! I once had to have blood taken, and Vampira couldnt find a vein. So she started jabbing me and digging her nails into me. By the time I managed to get myself free from her, I was bleeding, and the next day I had her FINGERNAIL imprints in my arm, along with a gigantic bruise that went from end to end inside my elbow! Have had an aversion to needles ever since

~Flying: I have never and will never get on a plane. If I cant drive, walk, take a train or boat there, odds are Im not going

~The Deleware Memorial Bridge: I can drive over just about anything without so much as blinking. However, DO NOT ask me to drive over this thing! Ye Gads! I am getting sweaty palms just THINKING about it! They actually have a State Police station where you can pull off and have a trooper drive over the bridge for you! Soo...its not just me ;)

Umm..thats about it...I think ;)

I gotta ask--why won't you drive over the bridge? And speaking of bridges, the old Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa Bay used to freak me out when I was a kid, especially after it fell. I've never been over the new one.

The TZ only bothered me the first time I went over it after Sept. 11. With all the talk of what was to come next, I avoided TZ until I couldnt avoid it any longer. Zoomed over that sucker southbound at 6am on a Saturday going about 70

I just noticed my link didnt work :(

I also do not like the Tappan Zee bridge. The Deleware Memorial isn't that bad. I actually kinda like it, it has a nice view. But I definitely hate the GW bridge. Two levels, basically frightening!

The GW isn't bad, but then I've only ever been on the upper level.

The lower level of the GW is just frightening. Very claustrophobic for me. GW is good if there is NO traffic and you can sail right over it (and then do battle on the Cross Bronx ;) ) because as bridges go its a relatively short bridge, but when there is traffic? Ugh. I was coming home one night from (where else?) Atlantic City, and we stopped right on the approach to the GW. We sat there for THREE HOURS while they PAVED the upper level! Can you believe that?! It was a warm summer night, and everyone was out of their cars and walking around. The police had rimmed us in from behind and wouldnt let us back up to get off the darn thing.

Hey...my office mate is going to the Yankee/Sox game tonite! He just found out there was a water main break on the Degan and traffic is a nightmare! Now hes scrambling for an alternate route!
