What are they doing to the orbitor in MK?

Its down for a basic refurb. Well, perhaps a little more than that as the whole ride system including the tower and its attached rockets were dismantled and taken down to be worked on and then it will be rebuilt. Basically it will involve repairing ride mechanisms, painting, cleaning, etc. Also expected is a repair to the planets circling the Astro Orbitor so that they spin again once the ride reopens. It is expected to reopen March 13th.

Astro Orbitor is under an extensive rehab to finally repair the moving planets on the top of the structure, along with other maintenance issues. Thats from the main page. They will probbably do some paint touch-ups, and other very minimal things too, I would expect. aklodge

EDIT: Sorry it looks like I just posted what CTXRover did. Sorry, when I clicked reply his message wasnt there! :hammer: aklodge

Does anyone know if the Orbitor uses the same chasis as Starjets, or was it a complete refit in 1994? Just wondered if this was the 31 year old structure that some pretty bad problems, or its replacement?

is it bad that i have never been on that? or even Dumbo?

No. The only neat part, in my opinion, to AO is that its way up in the air. My motion sickness really doesn't let me "appreciate" attractions like Tea Cups, Dumbo or AO, so I have to forego them anyway, but I just can't see the value of standing in line forever, just to spin in circles for a minute and a half.

To each their own

It is a major referbishment of the planets (get them spinning) and the rocket's mechanism to get it working 100% again..... (didn't it stop working early.. so that is part of the referbishment.. replacing pats.. fixing issues...)
