What are ABSOLUTE must-do dining options you would suggest to someone money-tight and sorta picky?

I'm not the pickiest eater in the world, but Idon't like dishes that have a lot of chewy veggies like bell peppers.

As for pricing, say I have a budget of 30 dollars a meal (approx.) to eat out a handful of times through my stay.

I'd like suggestions mostly for MK. Some for Epcot, unless there are more restaurants at Epcot than I think there are.

Not sure how picky you are however in the Magic Kingdom the Plaza Restaurant, Casey’s Corner, Columbia Harbor House, Pecos Bill’s, Cosmic Rays, Skipper’s Canteen and Be Our Guest are all in your price range.

Epcot has tons of restaurants. Each country in the World Showcase has at least one TS (except the US lol). Obviously it depends if certain cuisines turn you off, but we've had delicious meals at places like Rose & Crown and Chefs de France. Chefs is, on the whole, a little bit more expensive than R&C.

In FutureWorld, there's really only Coral Reef (good food and atmosphere!) and Garden Grill (more than $30 for adults).

In MK, you could try Pinocchio's Village Haus (the interior is just so cute) or Tony's Town Square (not exciting, but you'll get a filling meal). Or bring a PB&J and splurge on junk food - get a Dole Whip from Aloha Isle and churros from the cart or Pecos Bill's.

Well, EPCOT is a giant food court/shopping mall with the occasional ride tossed in. The best inexpensive meals can be gotten at Tangierine Cafe (shawarma and falafel) or Boulangerie Patisserie Les Halles (French sandwiches and soups). Or again, forget sitting and get a turkey leg from the Fife and Drum cart at the American Adventure and a beer from anywhere in World Showcase.

Animal Kingdom is getting rid of turkey legs, too. Speaking of, Flame Tree Barbecue is a GREAT spot to eat. I know you asked mainly about MK, but the baked beans alone are worth a look-see.

If you can grab some snacks during the day to save money, you could try doing Crystal Palace or Cinderella's Royal Table. Crystal Palace is a character buffet, so it's all you can eat and Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet come visit you at your table. Cinderella's Royal Table is table service and you'll get a full course meal and princesses come visit you at your table.

Both are a bit pricey, but if you can save for one "fancier" meal at MK...I'd go for these.

Be Our Guest is also nice, but you can eat there within your budget for lunch and still get to experience the restaurant.

With the exception of the buffets, shows and the like, I can't think of any non-signature location I couldn't eat at for under $30.

MK - CHH, BoG and Skippers Canteen
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe, Biergarten (lunch is barely over your budget)

Don't be afraid to venture to resort restaurants. The Wave is only a short walk outside of MK, or snack around the monorail stopping at Trader Sams (must do if you have time and like tiki). Heck, I'd even suggest you go to AKV Kidani and stop at Sanaa, but that may be a bit out of your way.

While I have had alot of great meals at WDW, with the sheer number and variety of choices (especially with all the great choices opening at DS) I can't really push much as a "Must Do" each trip. If you really want a must do, eat CS a few times and then splurge on a signature restaurant at least once. Cali Grill at fireworks time is a unique experience for instance.

I love the Backlot Express!! I'm curious to see what they're going to change the name to once SWL is finished.

Those are in his price range, but he also said he was a picky eater. You listed some places that aren't that good taste wise. I would not recommend Pecos Bill's (equivalent of college cafeteria version of Mexican), or BOG simply because the food is just plain bad.

The best option you listed taste wise would be Columbia Harbor House... I would suggest the OP look at the menus of the places on the Disney World site and get a feel for what they offer.... Then keep in mind that anything ethnic will be toned down and not that authentic.

Best options for food for a picky eater that doesn't want to pay a lot is to go to EPCOT's world showcase. The food you get there from the non-table service places will likely be within the budget and taste better than what you will find at MK.

If price is really a consideration eating off site is the cheapest and best tasting option but it does tend to eat up some park time so it really depends on how much time you have on the trip as a whole.
