Sitting on the patio of our back of the Poly room watching the sunrise and monorails pass by (lovely with music the resort slowly waking up!). Saw a littlle mammal pass by, but couldn’t tell what it was! Still too dark. Not a rabbit because it wasn’t hopping. It looked like a little pig! I then heard a sort of squealing sound where it went in the bushes, but that could have been a bird.

What was it?

Definitely too big and legs too long for a rat. Opossum is possible, but I’m going with armadillo because it’s cooler. Didn’t know they were here!

They're all over Florida. Usually dead by the side of the road. And make a mess out of your yard with all the holes they dig looking for food.

When running the SW Light Side Half last year, one decided to temporarily join the pack. The screams of the teenage girls made it think otherwise.

It's very possible it could have been a pig. The area is overrun with them (wild boar). I see them often at night on my way around. There are so many that the state of Florida does not have a hunting season for them. They can be shot on sight, anytime.

Yikes! Thanks for that information:) Armadillos and now wild pigs, not to mention snakes, gators, flying roaches, bugs, bugs, bugs.
Just joking, I've lived in the deep south and know what animals there are. I have never seen any of the above mentioned, and hallelujah for that!

Yes, but they're pretty big (and they smell bad). Probably an armadillo - we've seen them often around there.
