I guess this is what i get for being honest. I have reservations for my family at the akl. There are 4 of us, (my wife, 5 yr old daughter, 3 yr old son, and myself) and we are going on the VISA deal. I found out that my wifes sister, who is 16, and her first cousin, who is 15, are now able to go. I called back to check about adding them to our ressies, and was told only 5 to a room. I could have lied and said my son was only 2, but I didn't. How can I work around this problem, and keep my ressies at AKL. 2 years ago, we all stayed at the Poly in one room, and never felt crowded. Can anything be done? If not, I will probably have to tell the girls they can't go.

Wow...six in a room? Hopefully you have reservations for a deluxe room...one with two queen beds, because that is the only way I see it working out.

See, you and your wife could share one of the queen bed's, your wife's sister and your daughter could share the other queen bed, and your son and wife's cousin could sleep on air matresses, one in the hallway area of the room and one near the balcony door. I don't see you fitting six in a room any other way, and I am becoming anxious at the thought of six in a room...however, if you think it will work, it will, because it is possible! About making reservation adjustments...I would just cancel them and remake them saying your son is two...unless you don't care about being honest...then you can just bring the other family members along quietly...but I wouldn't. Good luck and have a great time at AKL!

Aren't there State laws regarding occupancy? If you get caught out then you could get yourself and the hotel into very serious trouble.:(

My friend stays at the AllStars w/ 6 people. He and his wife, plus four kids. Two kids sleep on the floor in sleeping bags. After spending $1200+ for 5 day hopper passes, he can't afford two rooms. I would be claustophobic, but hey it's not me.:D

If you are OK with changing resorts I would reccomend staying at the Fort Wilderness cabins. The cabins fit six people. There is a murphy bed if the front for 2 and in the back there are bunk beds and another bed for 2. My family stays there every time we go. The cabin also has a kithchen. We really like stayig there.

I've always wondered if it was a safety issue or not. We stayed at the poly this past October, with two queen beds and a daybed, and while there were 5 guests down on paper (because 5 of us needed passes) truly there were 6 in the room, because my 19 month old was in a crib. But they all saw there were six human beings in there, lol, but only 5 paying guests. (2 adults, 4 kids) Perhaps you could call other resorts and see what your options are if your heart isn't dead set on AKL. :)

:lookaroun Ummmmm 6 people ?? Are you really set on AKL? How about 2 rooms for the same price at Pop Century or one of the All Star resorts?

Wilderness Lodge has rooms with trundle beds-- Although you need to ask for them special. Love it there!! My favorite, but can get a little much $$$$$ So have been doing All Stars or Port Orleans so I can "stay longer" lately. Good Luck, you will figure out something I know---- Have fun!! :D :sohappy:

How about a Villa? You can easily sleep 6 in a Villa, plus you get many extras that you don't get with a regular room. (jacuzzi, dvd player, kitchen, washer and dryer)

Just leave the reservations as is...they dont need to know how many are in the room. Unless your going to use length of stay passes...that would be the exception. Otherwise have the others purchase regular passes....order a roll a way or two. The housekeepers NEVER ask why. We have done this in the past...at Coronado...5 have stayed there...I never say there is 5 only 4. They dont check...I usually have the kids sit in the car and I check in..then drive to the room and we unload...if we stay at a resort where we dont drive to the room, the kids sit in the waiting area...and then we get them after we check in and go to the room....yeah, there might be safety issues...but really, your only in the room to sleep and shower. At least that is our deal.
I know its illegal, and not the right thing to do...but heck you know you pay soooo much money to get in the parks and all the money you spend at the parks, they dont lose money cause there is one or two extras in the room, especially if there are kids in the room.
Though I might say, it may get a bit hectic in the mornings at shower time! Or, god I have a nasty tummy ache time, and just being in the bathroom, you could evacuate the entire building with the "smell" ....LOL....that could get touchy. LOL

The number of people that they say you can have in the room are people over 3. You can have that many of people plus one child three years or younger. So when you went to the Polynesian you were allowed to have the 5 people and the 19 month old legally. The child under three doesn't count as a person in the room.

When I was a kid, if we couldn't afford a particular vacation then we just didn't go. My parents never tried to sneak people in because it could save them money.

Gone are the days of honesty and integrity. We have developed a me first, got to have it now society.

Having more than the authorized number of people in a room is a violation of the fire code. If as many people do this sort of thing as it seems when these discussions come up, then i hope there is never a fire or other accident at any of the Disney resorts because it will be a most tragic situation.

Oh please....then you must be the only HONEST person in the universe...congratulations! You or your family has NEVER done anything wrong...boy its good to know that God and his family live on earth with us! AT least be honest on here....people dont want to hear how your ARE so much better than they are....every post I have read that you have posted all sound the same .... self superiority...give it up...its getting old.

It isnt that you cant afford it sometimes Niteobsrvr, sometimes its the point....why is it okay to have 4 adults and as many infants under 2 in a room, but you cant have 4 adults and a 4 year old ina room....please, its not fire codes....its for more money for Disney more than anything.....

I am a travel agent, so I know....also why is it okay that at a Holiday Inn you have have 4, 5, 6 in a room and they dont care....even at Embassy Suites, (I know they are suites, but still), Hiltons, Hyatts, Marriott's etc....they really dont tell you sorry....you have to get 2 rooms.....ONLY Disney...they do that on the cruise ships too! Disney is a family oriented business...on their cruises, they only allow 4 in a room in most rooms...in this day and age families consist of 4-5 or more....how can that be family oriented...and who in their right mind would have their kids stay on a cruise in their own room!! Especially since they sometimes cannot guarantee connecting rooms!!!

So you see....its ALL about the MONEY.....

I don't think my friend that has 4 kids is dishonest. When he leaves WDW, he usually leaves behind around $5,000 (passes, food, souvs.) He saves a few $ on a extra room, more power to him!

I, for one, completely agree with Niteobsrvr and he obviously is not the only honest person in the universe. I also would not put 6 people in a room--it's against the rules; it's wrong. Period. Should be end of discussion. Does Disney want to make money? Yes. Is this a way to increase the coffers? No. I have worked for a hotel and we were only allowed to put up to 5 people in a room due to safety regulations and hotel/company policy, so don't feed us the line about other chains allowing it. In a suite, yes, you can have more, but the room size and such allows for that.

So, allow Niteobsrvr the right to state their opinion without you jumping down their throat about it and realize that they are simply following the rules--something you obviously have a real problem doing. If you have that many going and can't afford two rooms, then stay off-site somewhere cheaper or break the rules and teach your 4 kids that it's okay to break rules as long as you get your own way.

One final thing, with your attitude, I sure wouldn't want you representing me as a travel agent. I hope you treat your customers/clients better than you have treated some of your fellow wdwmagic members.

Wait a minute...look who is talking...Niteobsrvr is CONSTANTLY jumping down people's throats with his lame attempt to bring down anyone with THIER opinion...so why should he be allowed his without being contered? Looks like we not only have GOD here but his son too!

And by the way, I DO know the rules...and YES you can put more than allowed in a room....the hotels also charge you and extra guest rate too...so please...dont spew out garbage unless YOU know for sure.

And as far as my representing you as a travel agent....I would GLADLY take the extra commission from you for the extra room....I just dont think its HONEST!!! LOL

Look who is talking about jumping down peoples throats...and letting them have their opinion...I HAVE POSTED MY OPINION...he and now YOU have jumped down my throat for doing so....so please, God and son, practice what you preach!
Is being a hypocrite honest and something God would do??
I think NOT.

I think this was uncalled for. You are entitled to your opinion, but you do not have to start the sarcasm and attacks on people who have different opinions than yours.
