I took it today... it's $1 in tolls as opposed to my former 50 cents on my old Turnpike-I4 path... but it's quicker to LBV from where I live and better scenery. I can see the Contemporary, and Spaceship Earth from a distance, and a great closer view of Everest. I likey

I think this road is such a good idea for Disney. It allows Guests to bypass I-4 completely, discouraging them from visiting competitive destinations like Universal and Sea World. A good investment. Any ease of traffic on I-4 is a big help, too.

Once the state finishes there end it will lighten alot of traffic off 192 as well. Traffic lately on 192 has gotten out of control.

I can't tell from the map link. But it looks like Hwy 27 to Hwy 192 should still be faster, and no tolls. Any thoughts from any locals?

Hwy 27 is fast up at the top close to the turnpike, but in the middle there is a lot of development so there are some traffic lights, and then it thins out again. 192 is fast up until you meet up with tourist development. It is the route I take, but I will try 429 when I go.

Peter, I'm with WTBAD. It doesn't LOOK quicker than 27 - esp with a speed limit of 35. Is it just the lack of stoplights that does it?
The 35 mph speed limit is on Western Way. That is is the road Disney road that is on Disney property and is only a couple miles long. The speed limit on 429 is higher. 429 is the road that actually gets you from the Turnpike to western way/Disney.

Thanks for the map! Now after seeing this can anyone help with the toll costs coming from I-75 to the Western Way? Doesn't it cost to get on the Turnpike and then again as you exit onto the Western Way? Again How much is each?
I believe it will cost you $2.50 on the turnpike and then another $1 on 429. Hopefully somebody can correct me if I am wrong.

About the same, really - 429 is maybe 5-10 minutes quicker, depending on where on property you're headed - not worth the extra tolls IMHO.

For some reason the Sunpass web site isn't showing my transactions from yesterday yet, so I don't know exactly how much the tolls were. I *think* it's $6 round trip (with Sunpass) via the Western Beltway versus $2 round trip via US 27 (cash would be something like $7 vs. $2.50).

wow... that's pricey. For me it's $2 taking 429 - Western Way v $1 RT taking FL Pike - I4, so either one works for me. Anything to avoid going Windermere.

I took the 429 home from WDW a couple weeks ago. It was about 1/2 hour faster than taking 192 and 27 to turnpike.( I live near Ocala). There's no stopping at all it's all hwy. I also have Sunpass so I dont have to stop for tolls. It was kinda wierd on the 429 people that had to pay tolls had to exit to the toll plaza whereas sunpass people had a straight drive through with no slowing. Usually it's the other way around. And the view is pretty cool. I was able to see the Comtemporary, SE, SM, and if you look really good, a part of Cinderella's Castle. I'll Definately Be taking this route next time.

Thanks for the info Peter! So as I go from I-75 to the turnpike I pay $2.50 then I exit onto 429 and pay $1.00 and then do I just exit onto the Western Way and no pay any more exit tolls?
(One way to WDW from I-75 = $3.50)

Just curious, how long does it now take via the new route to Ocala? I'm looking at houses near Leesburg for when we retire, but I'm wondering just how far away it really is. I was hoping the new road would help make that area more feasable. Can you give me a guestimate of the time to WDW from there?

Well lets see I live just south of Ocala. It took me a little over 2 hours drive time to get to WDW by way of turnpike to 27 to 192. Coming home by way of 429 it was just about an hour and 40 min. drive time plus traffic was way less stressful. From Leesburg I'd take 27 to the turnpike then hit 429 to Westway Gate. About an hour drive depending on traffic and time of day.
