Sorry Misty but I went to Universal Studios once and not once while i was there did I enjoy the "ambiance" of it.We were there only 4-5 hours and i felt like it was a waste of a day. Many people like Universal and thats great as competetion is always good for business but Universal just didn't give me that "joy" that I get from WDW.I will say that Sea World is quite enjoyable but unlike WDW I will only go every few years as I would prefer to spend my time at Epcot or the Magic Kingdom. Note I didn't say DHS or AK as again those places to me didnt have the same feeling I have when I am at Epcot or Magic Kingdom.I love DHS firework show Fantasmic but the rest of the park was just ok to me as I would much rather have been at Epcot.I enjoy elements of those parks unike Universal which the only real part I would like to do again is the Terminator show as that was cool!

I can tell you first hand that Disney employees love Universal, too. My son got renewal ( and he never had a season pass before) season pass for $50 from Universal. Whoever lived in the apartment before him had a pass and they got the card in their box. He and his roommates also CMs called and asked if they could get the passes for that price and Universal gave all 3 of them season passes for the $50 renewal price.

Last week a Disney club that works with special kids spent after hours at Universal getting to know the "kids" helping them to get to and on the rides that Universal kept open for 4 hours for them. It made the kids more comfortable with the Cms at the Disney waterpark the next day.

As for most of the people I know on the coast here, we just like all the parks. Can't imagine living anywhere without them in your backyard for daytrips.

For some reason people attach themselves to a particular brand and feel the need to find faults in others. I see the same thing going on in the cruise ship world. I hit the forums for some information on a future trip and all I see is people tearing apart cruise companies other than their "regular" brand. It's idiotic. I guess people just need to feel as though they have "the best.."

I agree! And to some extent, I can see some respectability in a certain degree of brand loyalty. But I do think there are those who sometimes take it to extremes. Reminds me of a story....

I was talking to a fellow Disney buff online one time (on another fansite) and that person had just come back from Knott's Berry Farm near Disneyland and had ridden the Log Ride. He was going on and on about how it was such an obvious ripoff of Splash Mountain and how Knott's should be ashamed of themselves for not coming up with an original idea of their own, how they had to steal an idea from Disney, etc....

When I pointed out that Knott's Berry Farm's log ride was actually built first (the Timber Mountain Log Ride was built in 1969, Splash Mt was built in 1989), he suddenly backslid. All the sudden, the similarities he'd previously mentioned, he was suddenly saying weren't all that similar after all.:lol:

Another case in point is Disney's California Adventure. It opened as a horrible park and hardcore Disney fans were saying, "It's great!" Now that it's widely known that DCA will be undergoing a major facelift, specifically as acknowledgment from Disney that it's a "disappointment", hardcore fans are all excited about the changes. Funny how when an attraction is wonderful to begin with, many of us are sad when we hear it is going to be changed (or closed), even if the changes appear to be for the better. And yet, I haven't heard much (if any) complaining from hardcore fans about the fact that DCA is changing. That, to me, is taking brand loyalty to extreme. It essentially sends a message to the company that you're saying, "Hey go as cheap as you want. Because as long as it's got your company's name on it, I'll still buy it just because of that!"
