Went to a private screening of 'Brave' last night and . . .

It has been fluxing all day unfortunately.

Oh does anyone know when rotten tomatoes started counting every review? I thought the old numbers were top reviewers only but now you can turn that feature on or off.
I don't know I usually just see what Ebert thinks and he gave it 3 stars out of 4

I don't know I think Rotten Tomatoes is fairly accurate in their assesment. I have not seen Brave yet and will not in the theater but 70-80 range is decent if you are comparing it to some of the greatest animated films of all time. Pixar's track record except for Cars is historic and when you leave the theater ask yourself was it better than Toy Story or Up or Finding Nemo...doubtful. Doesn't sound like a clunker but just not quite up to the standards of absolute brilliance.

Just got back from seeing this movie and I have to say I really liked it. The animation is amazing and it had some cute moments. Followed the traditional Disney princess format, which is pretty much what I expected. Of course, having visited Scotland last fall, I felt a little bit of affinity to "magic". And I also enjoyed the short LaLuna - really cute.

Saw the movie tonight. Thought it was really cute movie. Nice theme, great animation, good music, bunches of laughs. Fair warning, there is a scene that shows mens naked behinds. Although I thought it was funny, I found myself kind of cringing considering the target audience.....and my 13 year old daughter was sitting next to me.

Just got back. Thumbs up all around, but not in the same league as Pixar's best. Visually stunning, and completely entertaining throughout, but it never really soars. We would, however, recommend it to anyone who wants a movie that will appeal to everyone.

Does anyone else think that Pixar has lost it's feel for story? Cars 2 (oh mannn), John Carter (for me it dragged and was confusing), and now Brave. Each one getting better, but three in a row well below their best? And we saw a preview for Monsters University that just made me cringe. Even though I really liked Brave, I left a little sad because I was a tad disappointed.

Brave now sits at 74% on Rottentomatoes. Though the percent of fresh/rotten reviews can be misleading. For example, here are some of the remarks considered "Fresh/Good".

-"Though it falls short of the studio's best in many respects..."

-"The Pixar name used to mean something. And it never quite meant pleasantly safe, safely forgettable movies like this."

-"'Brave'. Not up there with the instant Pixar classics.."

-"Go in with low expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised, but this isn't another Pixar bulls-eye."

There are more...but you can get the drift. I've learned to not always rely on RT as a source for whether a movie is worth seeing or not. Sometimes the site hits my opinion dead-on. Other times, I couldn't disagree more. But when you're seeing more "fresh" logos in front of negative comments...yeah it's the interwebs, go figure. If you base your opinion on seeing it from Disney fan sites alone, that too will mislead since you'll mostly hear: "It was AWESOME!! Best movie of the year!! Pixar!!! *sparkle, sparkle* Disney!!!" So be cautious either way and don't always use the web as a deciding factor. As for me, I'm gonna give Brave a try. It can only go uphill from last summer's Cars 2.
