Well I guess I will never stay in a Polynesian Bungalow....

Correct. I ran the numbers through Dave's DVC and you can cut th OP's quoted price almost in half. You could probably do even better by going directly through an owner.

You do have to wonder how many owners there are with that many pints though. I own enough to snag a bungalow for one night - off season!

I know a few who do.

The thing to remember is these bungalows are meant to appeal to a very high end market that the majority of us simply do not belong to. Once your annual income hits the 7 digit range $2k a night for a room is almost chump change.

I am sure someone will pay off those prices. Disney knows what they're doing.

This is like people at ikea complaining they can not afford the things at pottery barn. That may be a really bad example, but I do not know any other high end furniture stores

I think you could actually go to Bora Bora for less than that:eek:
Actually, Bora Bora is a lot more expensive for similar accommodations. The cheapest 2 bedroom over the water bungalow is $4,000 per night. So just the room alone would be over $56,000, not including flights to get there.

I know that people are going to come here with cheaper prices for other places on Bora Bora, but they aren't the over the water bungalows. Just like you can stay at WDW cheaper, you can stay at Bora Bora cheaper, but you have to compare apples to apples.

Please note that my simple statement said "I think" you can stay in Bora Bora cheaper. I was expressing my astonishment with the interesting bit of info that the OP posted..2 bedrooms or not that's a lot of money, to me, in my opinion, personally, etc, etc... But as I always say, to each his own and if someone else likes it, I love it.
I just priced a 2 week stay at a 5-star resort, bungalow in the ocean, with an amazing view of the mountains, during peak travel season at $9960.00pp including airfare flying out of LAX. Granted its not a 2 bedroom bungalow so those apples are a bit different from the Disney apples but the Bora Bora amenities trump the Disney accommodations, personally, in my opinion.

Well then it becomes a status thing. You get to talk among the fellow exclusive club members back home and compare vacation highlights and try outdoing each other. They would never be seen staying at anyplace less expensive.... its beneath them. Once you "make it" you never mingle with the commoners. They are the ones who serve you.

Yes, and it is not an apples to apples comparison in any way. Bora Bora vs. Disney swamp water? That is more like a seven course meal vs. one rotten apple comparison. So yes, you can have the real experience for much less than the fake, depending on time of year and location...unless you insist on staying at the Four Seasons Bora Bora. Now that will take a deep wallet.

You can compare apples to oranges if oranges make you happy. I personally would take a pup tent in Bora Bora over a Poly Bungalow, but now if someone had an extra bedroom in one of the Poly bungalows, and offered it cheap, I doubt I would turn it down.
I think the new WL villas might be nice too. I'm betting they will also be pricey..
I think the comparison has to be more than just the size of the bungalow to be a fair comparison. A real deal, exotic south seas vacation, to me would have much more appeal than a Poly bungalow, but after yesterday, with the market dip, both are a bit more out of reach for me.

I would be bored to death in a day in Bora Bora. Just not my cup of tea.

Yes, I get that. Different things appeal to different people. We like trying new and different things, and do often, but we like the familiarity of WDW too. Although, we do like staying at different places in Orlando. I can't imagine staying at the same place every trip. As for those bungalows, I don't know why they don't appeal to me, but would try them in a heartbeat if they were affordable. So, I guess maybe I just revealed why they don't appeal to me...too many points I don't have.

So just for kicks and giggles I priced a 2 week stay in a Polynesian bungalow. I was absolutely floored at the price......room only.....$37,293.75. :greedy: :greedy: :greedy: :greedy: :greedy:

And literally....it is room only, as for that kind of money they throw nothing else in. But then again, how many can afford to drop the kind of money a 2-week stay in Disney would require?

Think for yourselfer
I wish they would block poor people from accessing that part of the website. It makes me uncomfortable to think about poors checking out those rooms. I don't want my stay in those magical bungalows marred by the resentment of the peasants wallowing around in their own self pity.
