We’ve been hard at work completely rewriting WDWMAGIC to make the site easier to use and more accessible on today’s wide variety of devices.
The goal of the redesign was to first put all the information right at your fingertips. We’ve reworked the navigation bar to remain on screen at all times, allowing you to quickly find information from a choice of categories, or stay up to date on the latest news and construction projects.
The new look homepage at
http://www.wdwmagic.com contains highlights of all the site’s content, with the current news featured first, along with the most recently added photos and videos. There is also a handy ‘Today at the Parks’ section which gives you an overview of what is happening in the parks today - including park hours, Extra Magic Hours, special events, refurbishments and weather.
The restaurant menus at
http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining.htm have been given a complete overhaul, with all menus updated with current information, complete with the ability to ‘like’ and ‘dislike’ individual dishes on a menu to help others in choosing.
Our next goal was to make the site responsive to all device types. There is now no need to access either a desktop version of the site, or a mobile version of the site. The site will adapt itself to best work on whatever device you are using. Not only does the position of the content fit to the device, we also vary the amount of content displayed at a time, optimize image sizes for the type of device, and even serve extra resolution images for ‘retina’ class display devices such as iPad and iPhone.
Finally, we wanted to give photos
http://www.wdwmagic.com/photos.htm and videos
http://www.wdwmagic.com/videos.htm more of an impact, so you’ll find those to be much larger than before and easier to view.
The WDWMAGIC forums share the updates given to the main site, with the new static navigation menu, responsive design to accommodate any device type, and a refreshed look.
We are not finished yet with the redesign. Next up will be a brand new iOS app, and more enhancements throughout the site.
We hope you enjoy using the new WDWMAGIC for all your Walt Disney World news and information needs. If you have any difficulties with the site, or have any comments, you can leave a message on the discussion forums, or send us an email at
