Pre-Trip Welcome to my life, theres no turning back...

Even while I sleep...
They will find me...
Acting on my best behavior!!!

Now, let's get to the good part! We are going on a trip! But not WDW...*gasp!!!

We are going to the land that the hard core pixie dusters won't mention or speak of. Kinda like saying Valdermorts name in a Harry Potter movie.

Ok, was that enough of a hint? If not, we are going to Universal Studios (Orlando)!

Who is going?

First up we have your favorite trip reporters favorite trip reporter, the prognosticator of prognosticators, the peoples champ, the white tee v neck president, your boy, 9000!

Joining me will be my perfectly well mannered wife, C!

Where: Loews Portifino Bay

When: that's proprietary, but I've stored the info on a document and placed it next to a sports car in a garage which is more secure than Fort Knox (I couldn't help myself).

More details to come.

Update, and I'd also like to conduct a poll.

C is all packed. Ready to go and she's relaxing.

I haven't packed one item. Not one. Not even my toothbrush.

It's Saturday night at 8 pm. We plan on leaving between 4-5 am tomorrow, which is 8 hours from now. Again, I have absolutely nothing packed.

Are you like me? Or are you like C?

And if you're like C, does my last minute packing give you anxiety? It does for C. I just laugh when she starts stressing. And that only makes it worse 🤣🤣🤣

Weeks before the trip, I start making packing lists - a list for my carry on and a list for the checked bags, if any. I will start gathering said items a few days before I need to start packing so that I know if we need to make a run to Target. At that point, I will make sure all of our travel sized liquids are prepared. I will start packing the day before and will only need to put the bag of liquids into my carry on bag because my clothes will already be laying out for the next day. Usually, my husband figures out that this is the time he also needs to start packing according to my pre-prepared lists. And it's easier for him because I've already done all of the planning and organizing. While packing, he also asks me if I remembered to print out the spreadsheet I've prepared with a general timeline of our days - what times the park opens/closes, any dining or ride reservations, with all confirmation numbers included LOL. He laughed at me until the day the hostess at Beaches and Cream couldn't find us in the system and their app was down 😁 Now he likes having a hard copy of that info because Disney tech can be iffy.

Quick update:

We hadn't looked at the park hours until this morning and we noticed the parks close.between 6-7 pm most nights of our trip. At first we were a bit bummed but then C had a great idea.

She said why don't we just go over to WDW for a few of the evenings if the parks are open late? My response:

We checked hours and MK is.open until 11pm and there's a night that Epcot is open until 11 pm.

It's been decided! We will lick the world! Er, I mean visit the world.

:hilarious:
I wonder how many got that reference…?!?!?! 🤔🤣
I just woke up from a deep sleep, so I’m out, but, I’ll be back to read more of the fun from the beginning…!!!

Buc-ee’s is AWESOME…!!!!!!! :joyfull:
I think I’ve posted this before, but, it was founded here in Texas in ‘82, and they started expansion in ‘01.
Also, the architectural firm I work for is still working on a multi-phased/building ranch design for the owner of Buc-ee’s, Arch “Beaver” Aplin III.
It’s been ongoing for a coupla’ years now.
We, almost never, pass a Buc-ee’s without stopping and going inside…!!!!! :geek::hilarious:

As I mentioned prior, we visited USO in Oct of 2021 for 2 days before we went over to WDW and we really had a great time at the resort and the parks and we ended up getting AP's.

Fun fact: I puke in my mouth when people call it , "Uni".

We stayed at Loews Royal Pacific (club level) and it was a great experience and the resort was very relaxing and just a short walk the parks.

Just to be clear, this trip to Universal is not about "fighting with our wallet" against Disney World. Even though Disney has gotten a bit silly with the Genie Plus prices and ILL and the most annoying thing for us has been and continues to be park reservations and not being able to park hop until 2 pm.

We still love Disney and our next trip is in the planning phases, so fret not.

What we are looking forward to, in regards to Universal is having the ability to be more spontaneous and also enjoying the Express Pass that is included with staying at Portifino.

I see a lot people on these forums defend the price of Genie Plus and ILL against Express Pass for free at Loews resorts by claiming that the rooms are ridiculously overpriced but I don't see that to be the case.

We got our room at Portifino, which is a club level room for the roughly the same price as as we got for club level at Wilderness Lodge. And it's definitely cheaper than a non club level room at Polynesian or Grand Floridian.

And considering that Express Pass is included for both of us, it's definitely a better price than what we would spend on Genie Plus each day for a WDW trip amd Express Pass doesn't require constantly being on your phone to attempt to find another selection. You just go to whichever attraction you like.

I’m guessin’ you probably wouldn’t read a TR titled “Uni. Trip With Kiddos and Plenty of Brekie Resies”…?!!! ;)

The last trip we took was a family DCL cruise back in Dec., outta’ the Port of Galveston.
My dear DWifey was almost fully packed 1 month ahead of time.
I, however, started throwing stuff in a bag shortly after midnight the morning we were leaving…and that’s the way it always goes…!!!!! :hilarious:
