Hi there.
I have just come back home to England after spending the most fantastic time of my life in Florida.
I am a member of Sing Live, and we were the first international choir ever to be invited to sing at the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. We opened on the 28th December with Derrik Johnson as our conductor and Andy Garcea as the narrator. We did a further 2 appearances on 4th December with Derrik Johnson, and with Rita Moreno as the narrator. Gosh, she got really into it!
We also took part in the recording of Mickeys Very Merry Christmas, which was quite an experience. we were at Magic Kingdom at 4.30am, freezing our buns off. If you see it on Christmas day, we are the ones singing and are wearing gold robes, and red and green shirts.
We saw most of WDW, and I was one of 35 chosen to record the backing track at MGM.
This was my first visit to America, and we spent 11 glorious days and nights, singing, seeing the sights and spending loads of money!!!
:veryconfu So what went wrong?
:hammer: We came home!
We flew into Gatwick and to a temperature of -4 degrees. We were sat on the plane for an hour - which is just what we needed after an 8 hour overnight flight!
We got home to a freezing cold house and had to set to lighting the fire then............
we discovered that the garage had been broken into and some nice people had wrecked my car to get to the scooter that my husband uses to go to work, which was parked in front of my car. They tried breaking the side window, and failed, then put a brick through the back screen. They wheeled out the car, complete with a seperate steering lock, stole the scooter, that had 2 strong motorbike chasins and a disc lock, a mountain bike and a set of hedge trimmers. They obviously do not have a lawn, as they left the mower and the strimmer!!!
Had anybody reported it to the police? NO!
I won't even go into the problems with the police and insurers!
So, I would like to say that it is nice to be home, but..........:D :D:

The only good thing about coming home was getting the foster kids back. We would have loved to take them with us, but we were unable to. God bless them:xmas:

So sorry to hear of what awaited you upon your return home.
I guess it doesn't say much about your neighbors, though. :fork:

Glad you had a great time in WDW.

I cannot disagree. The police think that it had to be somebody that knew the scooter was there, and our comings and goings.
Obviously, my husband had not been to the garage as normal for work!:(
We had done all we could with timer swithces for the house lights, radio etc. we had not told any of the neighbours that we were going away, as we are not in the best of neighbourhoods, and quite frankly, I am in total agreement with the police when they say that it was probably one of the lovely people around here:dazzle:
So..... after Christmas, we are looking to move out of this rat hole:fork:

Merry Christmas every body:xmas:

(P.S. - Darrel's got the right idea!)
Heck ya! IT would get you out of the "RAT HOLE" and it would take care of your need for warmth, not to mention you would get a discount on your AP! :D Plus I have been told that Housing is pretty cheap in Florida and they have no state sales tax I think. LOL!

And yes, we would love to move to Orlando, but there is just the little matter of our jobs! If I can convince the fostering agency that I work for, to set up over there, I will insist on being the test pilot for the scheme!!!

Yes, I have thought about looking for jobs in Orlando, but I am a foster carer with an absolutley fantastic agency, that pay us as professionals, give loads of support and training, and have fantastic social workers that actually care about the carers and the kids! In England, that is very unusual to have carers and kids so well cared for, and from talking to foster carers from America on another web site, I have been told that it is very bad over there. I have done loads of other jobs in the past, and quite honestly, I do not want to do anything else now.
My husband works for the education department, so it may not be as difficult for him - hence my comment about the agency moving to Orlando. It is actually something that has been discussed, but somehow, I don't think it will happen for a long time, if ever.
Ah well, I suppose we could always retire there, but that's a long time off!:xmas:

I'm from England (In Montréal) and that's a bloody luxury! The other day we had -25C with Wind Chill! (It will be soooo warm in England when I go back for Christmas!)

Sorry to hear about the thefts mais je t'embrasse! (I hug you!) for being excellent foster parents - I hope that I will end up doing that eventually (I can't have kids of my own  ), England needs more of them!

Sorry to hear about the scumbags attacking your property. Make sure the insurance company do not stiff you (as we all know they will try to).

I've been the victim of a burglary when we went to America for my Sister's wedding. Fortunately now we only have the good memories of the wedding and the burglary has faded away. I hope the same will be true for you

Good luck on relocating. Are you looking to stay in Yorkshire or upsticks and head off elsehwere?
